汉泰 언어 접촉과 성조 수용 연구

국문 초록

域外漢語 연구는 표의문자인 漢語 특성상 제한적일 수밖에 없는 음운 분석에 있어 중 요한 근거가 된다. 하지만 지금까지의 국내외 域外漢語 연구는 한국과 일본에 국한되어 있어 언어 유형이 다른 漢語의 성조 접촉과 그 수용 양상을 살피는데 한계가 있었으며 여전히 많은 이견이 존재한다. 따라서 우리는 대다수가 고립어이자 성조어인 동남아권 域外漢語에 주목할 필요가 있다. 역사적으로 중국 이민족의 남하를 통해, 동남아 국가 들은 이른 上古 시기부터 漢語와 접촉하였고 현대에 와서도 상당수의 한자어가 고유어 내에서 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 그러나 일차자료의 부족 등을 이유로 이들에 대 한 연구는 답보 상태에 머물러 있으며 특히, 베트남어, 미얀마어 등의 다른 동남아권 언 어에 비해서도 태국어에 대한 연구 성과는 극히 드물다고 할 수 있다. 본 고는 중국 남방 지역과 미얀마, 라오스 국경 지역과 가장 가깝게 맞닿아 있는 태국 북부 방언을 중심으로, 漢語 차용 어휘의 성조 수용 양상을 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 비록 대응 관계를 파악할 수 없는 다수의 경우가 존재하지만, 中古 平上去入 각 성조에 대해 특정할 수 있을 만한 비교적 뚜렷한 수용 양상을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 본고는 언어 접촉에 있어서 언어 유형과 그 언어가 본래 가지고 있는 자질, 그리고 언어 내부 유기성이 가 장 주요한 접촉 기제로 작용하기 때문에 같은 漢語, 漢字의 영향을 받았더라도 각 언어권에서 다른 양상과 결과를 보인다고 설명하였다. 본고는 앞으로의 동남아권 域外漢語 연구를 위한 기초 작업이자 연구의 필요성을 알리는데 중요한 의미가 있다고 할 수 있다. 후 속 연구를 통해 자료의 보완과 면밀한 분석이 계속해서 이루어진다면 지금까지의 域外 漢語 연구에서 밝히지 못한 다양한 현상을 이해하고, 나아가 유형이 다른 언어 간 접촉에 대해 더욱 심도 깊은 논의가 가능할 것이다.

영문 초록

Offshore Chinese studies are an important basis for phonological analysis, which is bounded to the characteristics of ideographic Chinese characters. However, because the Korean and international studies on offshore Chinese has been limited to Korea and Japan, there were limitations in examining the tonal contact and acceptance of Chinese with different language types, and scholars still hold widely different views. Therefore, the offshore Chinese languages in Southeast Asia, where the majority of them are isolated and tonal, are noteworthy. As Chinese immigrants came to the south throughout history, Southeast Asian countries have been in contact with Chinese since the early Sang-go times, and even today many Chinese characters have a key role in their native languages. Nevertheless, the lack of primary data has left relevant studies in a stagnant state. In particular, studies on Thai are extremely rare compared to other Southeast Asian languages such as Vietnamese and Myanmar. Focusing on the dialects of northern Thailand, which is closest to the southern regions of China and the borders of Myanmar and Laos, the current study examined the acceptance pattern of tonal features in the vocabulary of Chinese character appropriation. As a result, despite a large number of cases in which the correspondence relationship could not be identified, it was found that a relatively salient acceptance pattern could be specified for each tonality of Pyeong-sang-geo-ip in the Jung-go period. In terms of language contact, because the type of language, the qualities inherent in the language, and the internal flexibility of the language act as the main contact mechanism, it is interpreted that different aspects and consequences appeared in each language region even if they were affected by the same Chinese and Chinese characters. . The current study has significance as a basic work for the studies of offshore Chinese in Southeast Asia and informs the necessity of future studies. Continued follow-up of data complementary and in-depth analysis of the future studies would contribute to understanding the various phenomena that have been overlooked in the offshore Chinese studies so far, thereby enabling further in-depth discussions on the contact between heterogeneous languages.
