남해안 별신굿에 나타난 ‘3수 분화 세계관’ 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 3수 분화 세계관의 핵심적 상징물인 ‘삼족오’가 ‘남해안 별신굿’의 무구에 변형되어 나타난 현상을 고찰하여 남해안 별신굿과 3수 분화 세계관의 관련성에 대해 밝히고 있다. 남해안 별신굿의 큰굿거리 제의절차에 사용되는 무구 큰머리는 원정과 비녀, 댕기로 이루어진다. 이중 원정은 세쌍의 봉황의 모습으로 구성되어 태양을 상징하고 세쌍의 봉황이 한 개의 틀로 묶이며 1-3-1이라는 3수 분화 세계관을 분명하게 보여준다. 또한 ‘변화의 계기수 3’이라는 수(數)의 상징성이 남해안 별신굿의 신악 33천을 통해 3수 분화 세계관을 상징적으로 드러냄을 고찰하였다. 즉, 신악 33천은 천지인을 의미하는 성수 3이 완성수나 완전수의 의미를 복합적으로 지니며 묵은해를 잘 보냈으니 돌아오는 해도 잘 맞이 할 수 있도록 하늘에 기원하는 제의절차의 의미를 분명하게 드러낸다. 마지막으로 남해안 별신굿은 현재 동제(洞祭)로써의 본래의 의미는 퇴색하고 전통문화로써 그 명맥만을 유지하고 있는 현실이다. 그러므로 전통적 사상가치인 3수 분화 세계관을 문화코드로서의 현시점에 맞추어 지역축제라는 문화콘텐츠로서의 남해안 별신굿의 새로운 모습을 제안하였다.

영문 초록
