국문 초록

오늘날, 만화의 문화적ㆍ산업적 유의미성이 인지됨에 따라 만화와 관련한 다양한 분야의 연구결과물들이제출되고 있다. 하지만 아직까지 우리나라의 국가도서관인 국립중앙도서관이 수집ㆍ보관ㆍ서비스하는 대상자료 중 만화자료는 얼마나 어떻게 수집되고, 보관하며 서비스하고 있는가에 대한 선행연구는 존재하지 않는다. 이러한 상황에서, 본 연구는 기초적인 자료 조사 및 분석에 중점을 두었다. 우리나라 국가도서관의 현황조사만으로는 그 현황이 어떤 수준에 존재하는가를 파악하기 어려우므로, 만화문화가 영향력을 발휘한다고판단할 수 있는 일본과 프랑스의 국가도서관들과 비교분석하는 접근방법이 필요했다. 한국, 일본, 프랑스 국가도서관의 문헌자료, 그리고 자료수집 담당자들과의 서면, 현장 인터뷰를 통해 현황을 비교한 결과, 프랑스가 세 나라 중 가장 만화자료에 대해 개방적이었고, 그 다음이 일본, 마지막으로한국이었다. 국가도서관의 장서수집 지향성이 지식에서 정보로 가치판단이 배제되면 될수록, 만화자료를 더적극적으로 수집ㆍ보관ㆍ서비스한다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다. 국가도서관이, 장서수집 지향성을 조금 더중립화할 필요가 있다는 점, 그리고 하나의 표현형식으로서의 만화에 대한 인식개선을 위해 도서관 영역과만화 영역을 포함한 다양한 영역의 연구자들의 노력이 필요하다는 점도 도출했다.

영문 초록

The comics documents in Korea are assumed to have high loss ratio and low specimen copy presented to the libraries. This assumption leads to the questions on how the National Library of Korea collect, conserve and service the comics archive. By comparing with both NDL (National Diet Library of Japan) and BNF (Bibliothèque nationale de France), the comics-leading countries, this study will see through objectively on the present condition of Korea. This study is aiming for suggesting the consideration point throughout this comparative analysis. Through the comparative analysis about three national libraries on their mission, current condition and collection, storage, service of comics archives, France is the most open country among the three, Japan is the secondary and Korea comes next. This study offers a short-term and long-term task. The former one is the mission and duty of a national library need to be expanded from knowledge and information to generic cultural resources, putting efforts on securing cultural value of cartoon. For achieving the goal, this study proposes to check on national archives’ arrange of collections and collectibles, building systems on collecting the material if there are no such system. Next, enriching the research capacity and the lack of drive in field of comics itself is expected. Also, the expansion of human resources and budget considering systematic collection of comics is suggested. Thus, multidisciplinary research between library science and comics researchers needs to be widened, raising the attention on comics archive itself.
