국문 초록

외국인 유학생들의 학문적 목적 달성을 위해서 발표 능력이 요구되지만 종합적인 의사소통 능력으로서의 발표를 수행하는 데에는 많은 어려움이 따른다. 이 발표 능력에는 언어 지식 외에 사회 맥락에 대한 이해, 인지 능력, 사회구성원과의 소통 능력 등이 포함되어 있기 때문에 이러한 능력들을 향상시킬 수 있는 교육 및 평가 방안이 마련될 필요가 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 학문 목적 학습자들의 발표 능력 향상을 위하여 자가평가지표를 개발하고 이를 통하여 성공적인 발표 수행에 도움이 되는 방안을 찾는 데 있다. 발표는 준비에서 수행 과정에 이르기까지 학습자 주도로 이루어지기 때문에 스스로 발표 과정을 점검하고 평가할 수 있도록 자가평가지표를 개발할 필요가 있다. 이 자가평가지표를 이용하여 학습자 스스로 수정할 수 있게 되고, 더욱 완성된 과제 수행을 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 본 연구에서는 외국인 유학생들을 대상으로 발표 능력에 대한 자가평가지표를 개발하는 실험을 하였고, 완성된 지표를 이용하여 직접 발표를 평가해 보았다. 학습자들은 청중의 입장에서 발표 능력을 평가하고 있었는데 청중과의 의사소통을 중요한 기준으로 삼고 있었다. 또한 학습자들은 발표 능력 평가에 대한 기준이 이미 내재화되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 발표 내용, 한국어 능력, 언어외적 능력, 청중과의 의사소통, 발표 기술 및 태도 등 범주별 평가 항목을 더 구체화시켜 질적으로 완성된 발표 수행을 도모할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

It is necessary for foreign students to complete the task about presentation, because their academic purpose can get accomplished through the public speech. For the successive academic speech students need to understand the social context, and they should have cognitive ability and communication skills with the others. Korean programme is suggested to develope various methods to improve students presentation skill, and also evaluate this ability. This study aims to develope self-evaluation criteria for presentation skill of foreign students and with the help of this criteria students could search the ways to improve their communication skills. As self-directness concerns with the process of presentation from the level of preparations to the level of speech in front of audience, speakers have to examine all these processes by themselves. The self-evaluation criteria could be useful in self-checking the speech and complete the academic task. In this study the experiment about making evaluation indicators was proceeded, and then using these indicators students estimated the quality of authentic speech. They valued the presentation in the position of audience, and they regarded the communication skill with hearers as the most important among the lists of criteria. Students already internalized such standards of good presentation as the contents of speech, linguistic ability, nonverbal communication, the relation with audience, and the other speech skills. Korean programme needs to put these abstract ideas into shape.
