국문 초록

자기애성(narcissism)이 만연한 현대의 경향 안에서 사목자는 윤리적 접근과 더불어 신앙인들 가운데 드러나는 자기애성 성격장애를 심리적 문제로 진단하고 이해할 수 있어야 할 것이다. 공동체 내에서 병적 자기애성의 문제를 안고 살아가는 신앙인들을 단순히 윤리적으로만 판단하는 것보다 그들의 근본적 문제를 이해하고 도움을 줄 수 있는 사목적 배려가 필요할 것이다. 전오이디푸스 시기(preoedipal phase) 동안에 외상을 주지 않는 견딜만한 좌절감과 불충분한 욕구충족은 아이에게 있어서 자기대상(self object)으로 부터의 거울반응을 받을 수 있는 내적 자기구조를 형성하도록 돕고 핵심 자기(unclear self)를 통합하도록 해준다. 반대로 부모의 지나친 돌봄 또는 외상을 남기는 돌봄의 실패는 이상화 대상과의 관계에 장애가 나타나 거울반응을 주는 자기대상(self object)을 형성하지 못하는 구조적 결함을 일으키게 되고 응집적 자기(cohesive self)를 통합하는 데 방해를 초래하게 된다. 그 결과, 미발달된 자기구조 안에서 자기대상(self object)으로 부터의 거울반응을 받지 못한 채 웅대성 자기와 이상화된 대상은 고착된 상태로 남아 끊임없이 유아적욕구 충족에 매달리게 된다. 하인츠 코헛(Heinz Kohut)의 자기심리학에 따르면 상담가와 내담자사이에 형성된 아이와 엄마가 나누던 깊은 관계적 공감(empathy)을 바탕으로 거울전이(mirror transference), 이상화 전이(idealizing transference)의 과정을 거쳐 쌍둥이 전이(twinship transference)를 반복하여 자기애성 성격장애를 지닌 내담자가 현실화된 자기대상을 받아들이는 과정을 가질 수 있다고 한다. 사목적인 측면에서, 하느님의 모상(Imago Dei)으로서 인간의 핵심자기(nuclear self)는 하느님을 자기 대상으로 둘 때에 자기애의 평형상태를 유지할 수 있다는 점을 전제로 사목자는 스스로가 완전한 공감을 공명시키는 그리스도를 자기대상(self object)으로 삼아 상담대상인 자기애성 성격장애를 지닌 신앙인들에게 거울 전이(mirror transference), 이상화 전이(idealizing transference), 쌍둥이 전이(twinship transference)의 과정을 체험케 함으로써 그들 역시 그리스도를 자기대상(self object)으로 내면화하여 건강한 응집적자기(cohesive self)를 갖고 참된 그리스도를 따르는 이가 되도록 도울 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Pastors need to diagnose and understand narcissistic personality disorder as a psychological issue along with the ethical approach among the faithful in the trend of contemporary society that narcissism is prevalent. It will be necessary to have pastoral care to see the underlying matter of the faithful who have pathological narcissism and help them, rather than we make just ethical judgment on them. In the preoedipal phase, tolerable frustration and insufficient need fulfillment stimulate a child to establish inner self-structure, which includes mirroring from self-object and enable to integrate unclear self. On the contrary, parents’ excessive care and traumatic failure of care bring about impairment of relations with the idealized object and cause a structural defect that precludes from experiencing self-object and restricts integration of cohesive self. As a result, grandiose self and idealized object without mirroring in the undeveloped self-structure remain stuck, so that it makes one cling infantile impulses. According to Heinz Kohut’s Self Psychology, based on the deep relational empathy between therapist and client, as much as experienced between child and mother, a client who has narcissistic personality disorder can accept realistic self-object through the process of mirror transference, idealizing transference, and twinship transference. In pastoral view, on the premise that human’s nuclear self as image of God can keep narcissistic equilibrium when one holds God as a self-object, pastors who have a self-object in Christ who resonates with perfect empathy, can help individuals to internalize Christ as self-object by means of a process including mirror transference, idealizing transference, and twinship transference, and enable individuals to have sound cohesive self and to become true followers of Christ.
