1937年、日中戦争が勃発したことは、当時帝国日本の<外地>であった朝鮮と台湾にも、大きな影響を与えた。これは朝鮮と台湾に設立された高等教育機関である京城帝国大学予科と台北高等学校も例外ではなかった。本稿はこの戦時期(1937~1945)に植民者や被植民者が共存していた<外地>高等教育機関では、どのような植民地言説が流れていたのかを、両校の日本語雑誌である『清涼』と『翔風』に載せられた文芸物を中心に比較·検討し、植民地末期の朝鮮と台湾で生きる人々の在り方を分析してみた。 二つの雑誌のなかで、日本人学生の文には<外地>生まれのことから由来する重層的なアイデンティティへの悩みがよく表れている。例えば、在朝日本人の小野勝雄が書いた「はらから」では、日本人としての意識と共に<外地>生まれの日本人ならではの「はらから」意識が讀み取れる。在台日本人の清野進もまた「小先輩言」で、「本当の故郷を持っていない」日本人という問題を、「大和民族」や「大東亜共栄圏」の概念を取り上げることで解決しようとする。しかしこの過程で、いわば<外地>人である朝鮮人と台湾人が「日本国民」に吸収され、存在そのものが隠蔽される。朝鮮人学生は<朝鮮>素材を避けて書くことで自分の存在を隠した。台湾人学生もまた、王育霖が書いた「明日を期する者」のように、「啓蒙」された台湾人像を夢見ていたが、結局のところ、「皇民化」された「日本国民」の姿だけが残されていた。 このように台湾人学生が積極的に参加した『翔風』とは違い、朝鮮人学生の声がなくなっていた『清涼』は終刊を迎えた。そこには、文藝活動を取り止めるしかない「時局」だと認識していた朝鮮と、文藝活動を通して日本人と台湾人の「全体化」が実現できると認識していた台湾との異なる「必然性」が存在していた。

영문 초록

The Republic of China and the Empire of Japan were the main protagonists in the Second Sino-Japanese War between 1937 and 1945. The war had a great impact on the Preparatory Courses of both Keijo Imperial University and Taipei Higher School, institutions of higher education that were established in Colonial Korea and Taiwan. This paper examines what kinds of colonial discourse were prevalent at these institutions during the wartime period (1937~1945), and compares the experience of the two institutions by drawing on Seiryo and Shofu, Japanese-language magazines published in Keijo and Taipei, respectively. In these literary works, Japanese students clearly express their concern for the multilayered identity that derives from their births outside of their homeland, whereas Koreans and Taiwanese who are not native Japanese are absorbed into the category of Japanese people . This is because, since articles in such literary magazines were to be published in the context of wartime, students from both colonies faced the option of either writing in a way that was supportive of Japanese rule, or not participating in any publishing activities. Under these circumstances, these literary magazines were published by Japanese colonial residents and by native citizens of these colonies who agreed with the idea that a colonial literature should be produced from the perspective of loyal Japanese subjects. In this process, unlike the case of Shofu, in the publication of which Taiwanese students actively participated and which is still published today, in the case of Seiryo the literary work of Korean students slowly vanished, and the magazine is no longer published.
