국문 초록

조선후기 부평도호부(富平都護府) 읍치경관은 오늘의 인천광역시 계양구 지역을 대표하는 역사도시경관이다. 조선후기 부평도호부는 현재의 인천광역시 계양구, 부평구, 서구, 그리고 경기도 부평 등지를 관할구역으로 하였다. 부평도호부의 치소는 현재의 인천광역시 계양구 계산동 일대였다. 조선후기 부평도호부 치소에는 많은 관아 시설들과 제향의 장소들, 당대의 인간-자연관계 및 역사·문화적 함의를 지닌 경관과 장소들이 집중적으로 분포하고 있었다. 부평도호부 읍치경관은 우리나라 읍치경관의 일반성을 보여주면서도 세 곳에 조성되었던 조산, 대규모로 존재했던 읍수 등의 측면에서 고유성이 있었다. 그러나 근대이행기의 정치·사회적 혼란과 현대에 이루어진 대단위 시가지 개발로 인해 유산 가치가 있는 많은 상징적 경관과 장소들이 크게 훼손되거나 거의 사라졌다. 오늘날 인천광역시 계양구는 옛 부평도호부의 읍치경관을 복원하는 데 관심을 쏟고 있다. 유산(heritage)을 복원하는 작업은 경관과 장소를 매개로 지역정체성의 근원을 찾아가는 과업이며 지역의 역사문화 자원을 교육콘텐츠로, 관광콘텐츠로, 문화콘텐츠로, 그리고 시민들의 지역정체성 함양과 자존감 제고를 위한 교양콘텐츠로 변환시키는 일이다. 하지만 현재 남아 있는 유적이나 경관은 극히 일부에 불과하고 주요 경관과 장소의 정확한 소재지에 대한 근거 또한 불명확하다. 따라서 읍치경관을 복원하기에 앞서 경관의 진정성과 완전성을 도모할 수 있도록 토대 연구가 뒷받침되어야 하고, 유의미한 복원 대상 시기를 특정해야 할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

The townscape, ie. the Landscape of County Seat of Bupyeong-dohobu(富平都護府) in the late Joseon Dynasty is a historical urban landscape representing Gyeyang-gu, Incheon Metropolitan City. In the late Joseon Dynasty, Bupyeongdohobu had jurisdictions in Gyeyang-gu, Bupyeong-gu, Seo-gu, and Bupyeong, Gyeonggi-do. The core area of Bupyeong-dohobu was located in Gyesan-dong, Gyeyang-gu, Incheon. Bupyeong-dohobu in the late Joseon Dynasty had many intensive facilities, places of pilgrimage, landscapes and places with human-nature relations and historical and cultural implications. However, due to the political and social turmoil of the modern transitional period and the development of large-scale urban area in modern times, many of the symbolic landscapes and places with heritage values have been greatly damaged or almost disappeared. Today, Gyeyang-gu, Incheon is paying attention to reconstructing the townscape of the old Bupyeong-dohobu. Reconstruction of a heritage is a task of finding the source of regional identities through the landscape and the place, and is to transform the historical and cultural resources of a region into educational contents, tourism contents, cultural contents, and cultural contents for improving local identity and self-esteem of citizens. However, there are only a few remaining ruins and landscapes, and the grounds or geographical informations for the exact location of major landscapes and places are unclear. Therefore, before reconstructing the townscape, it is necessary to support the basic research to promote the authenticity and integrity of the landscape, and to identify the timing of significant reconstruction.
