국문 초록

‘구원의 보편주의’는 시편집뿐 아니라 구약 성경 곳곳에서 흔히 발견되는 신학적 주제이긴 하지만, 다수의 주해학자와 저자들은 ‘시온 시편들’ 중 하나인 시편 87(86)편이 ‘세상 모든 민족들을 하느님의 도성 시온에서 태어난 자녀로 선포하고 있다’고 쉽게 단정지어 말하곤 한다. 그러나 히브리 본문 자체는 여러 주석적 난제들과 다양한 해석의 가능성을 포함하고 있고, 아직까지도 학자들 사이에서 논의의 대상이 되고 있다. 그들은 본 시편에서 시온의 ‘여성성’이나 ‘모성(어머니-고향)’이 부각된다는 점에는 기본적으로 동의하지만, ‘시온에서 탄생한 주체가 누구인가’에 대해서는 뚜렷한 해석의 차이를 보이고 있다. 사실 이 문제는 본 시편 주해의 핵심관건이다. 왜냐햐면, 시온에서 탄생한 주인공을 유다인들과 이방인들 중 누구로 규정하는가에 따라, 또 그들이 시온과 제 땅 어디에서 태어났다는 말인가에 따라, 본 시편의 주제는 ‘이스라엘 중심의 특수주의(particularism)’와 ‘구원의 보편주의(universalism)’라는 양 극변을 오가는 전혀 다른 것이 되기 때문이다. 본 작업은 먼저 마소라 본문의 해석의 다양성을 대해 짚은 다음, 본문비교를 통해 칠십인역 번역자들이 자신들의 히브리 Vorlage를 어떻게 해석했는지 살핀다. 칠십인역 시편에서 발견되는 본문상의 차이점들은 ‘민족들의 탄생’ 관련 언급들에 온통 집중되어 있다. 그리스어 번역자는 일련의 ‘개입’을 통하여 본문을 재주해(re-interpretation)함으로써, 모든 이방 민족들을 이스라엘과 함께 “시온, 어머니시여!” 라고 부르는 이들로, 시온에서 태어난 자녀들로 규정한다. 그리고 그들을 하느님의 자녀요 천상예루살렘의 시민으로서의 특권과 은혜를 충만히 누리는 삶으로 초대한다.

영문 초록

Although ‘Universal Salvation’ is a theological theme commonly found throughout the Old Testament as well as in the Psalter, many commentators and authors assert easily that Psalm 87(86), one of the ‘Zion Psalms’, proclaims the all gentile peoples of the world as children born in Zion. However, the hebrew text itself contains the various exegetical issues and the possibility of different interpretations, and is still an object of debate among scholars. They basically agree that Zion’s femininity or motherhood are highlighted in this psalm, but show different opinions of ‘who is born in Zion’. In fact, this is a key issue for the interpretation of this psalm. Because, depending on ‘which of the Jews and Gentiles is defined as the protagonist born in Zion?’ and ‘where were they born, in Zion or in their land?’, the theme of this psalm can be at opposite poles of the conclusions, particularism centered on Israel and the universalism of salvation. This work first examines the diversity of interpretations of the Masoretic text and then examines how the Septuagint translators interpreted their Hebrew Vorlage with the comparisons of the two texts. The textual differences found in the Septuagint psalm are all focused on references to the birth of the nations. The Greek translator, by re-interpretation of the hebrew text with a series of ‘interventions’, identifies all gentile nations with ones who call ‘Mother, Zion’ and who are born in Zion. So he invites them to delight their privilege and grace as children of God and citizens of heavenly Jerusalem.
