永郞의 자취와 신라 四仙설화

국문 초록

영랑을 주목한 이유는 영랑이 『삼국유사』 백률사조에 등장하는 안상과 관련되어 있기 때문이다. 승려 안상은 부례랑 혹은 (준)영랑의 낭도라는 설이 있다. 이 밖에 여러 명의 영랑이 보이고 있어 일단 관련 설화를 고찰하고자 한 것이다. 영랑설화는 4仙 속의 영랑과 영랑단독설화로 나눌 수 있는데, 본고에서는 기왕의 연구와 지명유래설화에 주목하여 4선설화를 먼저 살펴보았다. 본고의 자료는 문헌에 보이는 설화 내용을 그 대상으로 하였다. 영랑의 자취는 평안도·함경도를 제외한 전역에서 확인된다. 4선 혹은 영랑이 들렀거나 머물며 遊賞한 곳이기 때문에 지명이 붙여졌으며, 영랑설화 중에는 이러한 지명유래설화가 많다. 四仙설화의 관련 유적은 四仙峯, 四仙亭, 四仙巖 등이 있고, 이 설화에서 五仙巖, 六仙臺, 八仙臺, 九仙峯 설화가 파생된 것으로 생각된다. 사선설화의 내용에서 영랑이 가장 많이 언급되고 있으며, 다음이 술랑, 안상, 남석의 순이다. 이를 보면 四仙설화의 중심 인물은 영랑이라고 할 수 있다. 4선설화의 원형은 영랑 등 신라4선이 동해안 일대를 유람한 것에서 찾을 수 있다. 4선설화의 형성시점은 신라시대라고 생각되며, 문자로 정착되지 못하면서 많은 변이가 이루어졌고, 새로운 신화소들이 추가되기도 하였다. 조선시대에는 신라4선설화에 근거하여 당시의 인물을 추가해 오선암, 육선봉 등의 지명이 새롭게 나타난다. 나아가 신라4선을 모두 조선의 실존 인물로 대체하여 조선4선, 조선5선, 조선6선, 조선8선이 등장한다. 화랑으로서의 4랑보다는 신선 이미지의 4선설화가 더욱 성행했음을 보여주고 있다. 신라4선설화는 조선시대에 신선의 의인화 과정을 거치면서 현실적이고 구체적인 신선사상으로 정착되어갔다.

영문 초록

The reason why I paid attention to Yeongrang is because it is related to the Ansang that appears in the BaekryulSa of Samguk Yusa. There is a theory that the monk AnSang is not Buryerang but a rangdo of (Jun)Youngrang. And there are several Yeongrangs, so I tried to consider the related tales first. Yeongrang tale can be divided into Yeongrang in 4seon(仙) and Yeongrang single t ale, t his st udy first looked a t t he 4 seon folk t ales. The t races of t he 4seon are confirmed throughout the country except Pyeongan and Hamgyeongdo. Related ruins include Saseonbong(四仙峯), Saseonjeong(四仙亭), and Saseonam(四仙巖), etc., and it is thought that they are derived from Ohseonam(五仙巖), Yukseonru(六仙樓), Palseondae(八仙臺) and Guseonbong(九仙峯). The prototype of the tale can be found in the fact that the Silla 4seon including Yeongrang cruised around the East Coast. The formation period of the 4seon tale is thought to be the Silla period, and many variations were made while not being settled by letters, and new myths were added. In the Joseon Dynasty, based on the Silla 4seon tale, the characters of the time were added, and Ohseonam and Yukseonbong appeared newly. And all 4seon are replaced by the actual characters of Joseon, and the Joseon 4seon, the Joseon 5seon, the Joseon 6seon, and the Joseon 8seon appear. 4seon tales are more prevalent than 4rang(4郞). Silla 4Seon tale was settled as a realistic and concrete Shinseon idea through the process of personification of Shinseon.
