국문 초록

지역의 공립박물관은 지역민의 정체성과 삶의 질을 향상시키기 위한 문화향유기회 확대를 우선의 목적으로 한다. 남양주시립박물관은 물론이거니와 대부분의 공립박물관은 관람객 증대와 박물관의 역할에 대한 제고 방안을 고민하고 있고 공공재로써의 역할 수행 방향에 대해 고민하고 있다. 이를 실현하는데 있어 지역학의 성과는 매우 크게 작용한다. 학예연구사는 관람객 증대와 지역사회 기여라는 목적 달성을 위해 지역에 대한 역사, 소장 자료에 대한 가치 규명과 활용 방안, 지명 유래, 생활풍습 등을 학술적으로 규명하며 지역 인식을 확장하고 이를 지역민과 향유하기 위한 콘텐츠와 프로그램을 기획 운영하는 주체이다. 남양주시립박물관의 사례를 통해, 학예연구사는 지역의 전통과 변화상 등 지식 정보를 제공하고 지역의 특수성을 기반하여 인문학적 교육을 통해 미래인류의 가치와 문화 다양성을 확산하는 평생 교육의 주체로 확인할 수 있었다. 지역학을 매개로 시민들의 삶을 담아내고 다양한 문화를 남기며 스토리를 개발하여 지역학의 시민 접근성을 높임으로써 박물관의 공공재 역할을 견인하였다. 학예연구사는 지역민의 생활특징을 잘 알기 때문에 지역 생활문화를 진흥하는 전문가적 자문 역할을 수행하고, 전문가 그룹과 상호 네트워크를 구축하여 지역 역사문화자원을 수집, 보존을 진행하며, 마을공동체의 마을문화를 되살려 사회적 문제를 해소하고자 하는 지역민과 연구자 간 협력하는 중간자 역할을 수행할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The top priority of local public museums is to expand opportunities for cultural enjoyment to enhance the identity of local residents and increase their quality of life. Most public museums including Namyangju Museum have contemplation over the ways of increasing the audience and enhancing their roles as a museum and also the directions of their role performance as public properties. The achievements of area studies have huge impacts on their realization. Curators perform as subjects in examining the value of local history and mat erials, figuring o ut plans t o make u se o f t hem, c onduct ing academic research on the origins of place names and life customs, expanding local awareness, and planning and running content and programs to enjoy them with local residents under the goals of increasing the audience and contributing to the community. The case o f Namyangju Museum c onfirmed t he r oles o f curat ors as t he subjects of lifelong education to provide knowledge and information about the traditions and changes of the area and spread the value and cultural diversity of future mankind through liberal art education based on the unique features of the area. The curators played a leading role in the roles of the museum as a public p ropert y by r eflect ing t he l ives o f cit i zens via area s t udies, contributing to diverse cultures, and increasing citizens access to area studies through the development of stories. Curators can work to promote the local life culture as expert consultants based on their good knowledge about the life characteristics of local residents, collect and preserve the historical and cultural resources of the area based in their mutual network with expert groups, and mediate between local residents and researchers based on their collaboration to bring back the village culture of the village community and solve social issues.
