영어학습에 대한 유아의 흥미 및 불안 척도 개발

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 국내 유아의 영어학습 흥미와 불안을 측정할 수 있는 타당한 척도를 개발하여, 유아 영어교육 환경의 적합성 검토를 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는 것이다. 관련 문헌 고찰 및 아동학 전문가의 의견을 바탕으로 척도의 구성요인을 수집하고 추출하였으며, 타당도 검증과정을 거쳐 예비 문항을 구성하였다 연구대상은 만 3-5세 유아 총 436명의 어머니와 담당 영어교사 42명이었다. 본 연구에서 신뢰도와 타당도 검증을 거쳐 개발된 영어학습에 대한 유아의 흥미 척도는 흥미-교사관찰 (3문항) 흥미-어머니관찰 (12문항) 2개 요인의 총 15문항으로 구성되었고 영어학습에 대한 유아의 불안 척도는 불안-교사관찰 (5문항)과 불안-어머니관찰 (4문항) 2개 요인의 총 9문항으로 구성되었다. 구성된 척도의 하위 요인 내적 합치도는 .76부터 .92사이에 분포하였다 영어학습에 대한 흥미 척도의 Cronbach’s α값은. 91이었고 영어학습에 대한 흥미 척도는 이었다 본 연구를 통해 개발된 영어학습에 대한 유아의 흥미 및 불안 척도는 안정되고 신뢰도 있는 도구임이 검증되었다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to develop an objective scale to measure young children’s English learning interest and anxiety. The preliminary scale of 34 items was first developed through the rigorous previous literature review with the terms - ‘interest’, ‘affective factors’, ‘learning English’, and ‘anxiety’-together with the experts’ content validation. The total of 436 mothers of 3- to 5-year-old children and their English teachers (42 teachers) were contacted to rate the preliminary scale. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 19.0 and AMOS 26.0 programs. Exploratory factor analysis revealed the following two factors for ‘Interest toward English learning’ model: interest-observed by teachers and interest-observed by mothers. As for ‘Anxiety toward English learning’ model, anxiety-observed by teachers and anxiety-observed by mothers were also revealed. Confirmatory Factor Analysis confirmed and validated the model fit. Also, convergent validity, discriminant validity, and cross-validity were confirmed. The internal consistency of the ‘Interest toward English learning’ and ‘Anxiety toward English learning’ were .91 and .76, respectively. The result of the study demonstrated that ‘Young Children’s English Learning Interest and Anxiety Rating Scale’ developed in this study is a valid and reliable instrument.
