관광계열 대학생의 외국어학습신념과 학업성취도의 상관성 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 관광계열 대학생들의 외국어학습 능력 제고를 위한 방법 및 동기 부여 제공을 목적으로 연구되었다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성별 외국어학습신념의 차이비교에서 신념1과 신념3이 집단 간 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 신념 별 평균값에서는 모든 영역에서 남자들의 평균값이 더 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 집단 간 외국어학습신념의 차이비교를 위해 일원배치 분산분석(ANOVA)를 실시하였다. 집단 간 차이비교는 학업성취도 변인인 학점과 토익성적 기반 수준별 비교를 실시하였다. 학점 수준별 비교에서는 집단 간 하위영역간 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났으며, 반면에 토익 수준별 비교에서는 신념1만이 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 외국어학습신념과 학업성취도 영역 간 상관성을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 외국어학습신념의 하위영역 중에서 신념5 외에 모든 하위영역 간 유의미한 상관 성을 보여주었으며, 신념1은 학업성취도의 학점과 토익 두 영역 모두와 음의 상관성을 보여 주고 있으며, 신념5는 학점영역과 상관성이 있는 것으로 검정되었다. 학업성취도의 학점과 토익영역 간에도 상관성을 보였으며, 모든 영역 간 상관성에서 두 영역이 가장 높은 상관관 계를 나타냈다. 결론적으로, 언어적 학업성취도 향상을 위해서 학습자들의 외국어학습신념에 대한 강한 동기를 부여하는 것이 중요하다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore the corelation among the subcategories of college students’ beliefs about foreign language learning and academic achievements. The results were as follows. First, in the comparison of beliefs about foreign language learning, both belief 1 and belief 3 showed the statistically meaningful difference between male group and female one, and the male group showed the higher means in all of the subcategories of beliefs about foreign language learning. Second, ANOVA was conducted in order to compare the degree of beliefs among credit-based groups and TOEIC-based ones, with the results produced: 1) None of beliefs showed any meaningful difference among credit-based groups in statistics. 2) Only did belief 1 show the statistically meaningful difference among TOEIC-based groups. Third, the corelation analysis was made among the subcategories of both beliefs about foreign language learning and academic achievement. Therefore, it showed the corelation among four beliefs of beliefs about foreign language learning except belief 5. Additionally, belief 1 showed the negative corelation with both credit and TOEIC, and belief 5 did show the positive corelation with credit. In addition, credit and TOEIC also showed the highest corelation. Finally, it can be said that educators need to encourage their disciplines to enhance some sense of belief about foreign language learning.
