언론의 범죄 보도 행태에 관한 감성분석

국문 초록

최근에 빅데이터(big data)를 활용한 다양한 연구가 빈번하게 이루어지고 있다. 빅데이터를 활용한 연구는 일반적으로 양적인 개념에 집중하여 다루어진다고 생각되어지는 경향이 있지만, 실제로는 양적정보의 분석을 통한 사회적 현상 등 질적 의미를 파악하기 위한 연구방향이 빅데이터의 본질에 더욱 가깝다고 할 수 있다. 그 중 감성분석은 소셜미디어상에서 문서를 작성한 사람의 감정을 파악하는 방법으로 문서의 주제보다는 문서 작성자가 어떠한 감정을 가지고 있는가를 분석하여 파악하는 분석방법으로, 공식적인 상황과 비공식적인 상황, 실명의 상황과 익명의 상황 등과 같은 상황에서 비공식적이면서 익명의 상황에서 좀 더 솔직한 자신의 의견을 작성하는 성향을 이용하는 기법이다. 즉, 소셜미디어상에서 특정 주제에 대한 관심 키워드가 포함된 문서에서 긍정 또는 부정과 같은 감성이 발현되는 단어의 빈도를 추출하여 특정주제 및 이슈에 대한 국민들의 여론을 파악할 수 있다. 다만, 이 연구는 특정주제 및 이슈에 대한 국민들의 여론을 파악하기 위한 비공식적 상황에 대한 접근방법보다는 언론이라는 공식적 문서에 대하여 집중하여 접근해보고자 하였다. 이러한 연구목적을 실현하기 위해 인권보도준칙이 제정되었던 2011년을 기준으로 제정 전인 2010년과 제정 후 상당기간이 지난 2018년에 “범죄”를 키워드로 작성된 뉴스기사 86,696건(2010년 24,318건, 2018년 62,378건) 데이터를 R을 이용하여 텍스트마이닝과 감성분석을 실시하였고, 이를 통해 언론에서의 보도 행태가 어떻게 달라졌고, 관련 분석결과를 통해 정책적 함의점을 도출하였다.

영문 초록

Recently, various studies using Big data have been frequently performed. Although research using Big Data tends to be dealt with focusing on quantitative concepts in general, in fact, research directions for understanding qualitative meaning such as social phenomenon through analysis of quantitative information are closer to the nature of big data can do. Among them, sentiment analysis is a method of grasping the feelings of a person who writes documents on social media. It is an analysis method that analyzes the emotions of the document creator rather than the subject of the document and analyzes the formal situation, the informal situation, It is a technique that takes advantage of the tendency to write more candid opinions in an informal and anonymous situation in situations such as anonymity. In other words, it is possible to extract the frequency of words expressing affirmation such as positive or negative in a document including a key word of interest on a specific topic in social media, thereby gaining a public opinion on specific topics and issues. However, this study focused on the official document of the media rather than the approach to the informal situation in order to grasp public opinion on specific topics and issues. In order to realize these research goals, we set 2011 as a major time frame in which human rights reporting rules were enacted. In this period, 86,696 news articles written with the keyword crime were subjected to text mining and sentiment analysis using R. In this way, how the reporting behavior in the media changed, and the policy implication was derived from the related analysis results.
