국문 초록

懶隱李東標는 肅宗朝의 정치적 격변[換局] 속에서도 당파의 이해를 떠나 양심을 지켜나갔던 올곧은 지식인이다. 이 논문의 목적은 그의 시세계에 나타난 문학적 특징과 정신적 지향을 살펴보는 데 있다. 懶隱은 바람, 비, 눈 등이 擊盪하는 공간을 묘사하여 자신의 시대를 混沌의 세계로 형상화하였고 꺾이고 부서지는 동식물의 이미지로 미약한 士類의 모습을 암시하였다. 더 나아가 그는 突破의 역동적 이미지로 세상에 대한 강렬한 대결의지를 표명하였으며 飛越의 역동적 이미지로 현실의 고뇌를 벗어나 높은 정신경지로 나아가고자 하는 소망을 피력하였다. 그의 시에서 아울러 눈여겨 볼 것은 시인이 게으름이라는 삶의 태도를 지향하고 있다는 것이다. 그의 號에서도 표상된 이 태도는 현실의 욕망을 떨쳐버린 자유로운 삶을 의미하는 것으로 세상에 대한 저항의 또 다른 표현이다. 또 그가 게으름에 대한 지향을 통해 도달하려는 삶은 시에 野逸의 生活理想으로 구체화 되었다. 이는 한적하고 순박한 삶을 의미하는 것으로 여기에는 현실의 굴레를 벗어난 데서 오는 자유로움과 기쁨이 배어 있다. 문학적인 관점에서 주목되는 것은 시인이 역동적인 상상력을 통해 매우 참신한 이미지들을 창조하였다는 사실이다. 이는 ‘突破’와 ‘飛越’이라는 일련의 역동적인 이미지들을 통해 확인할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Nan-eun Lee Dong-pyo was a straight intellect that was truthful to his conscience even in the middle of political turmoil(Hwanguk) during the reign of King Sukjong, putting aside his partisan interests. The purpose of this study to investigate the literary characteristics and spiritual orientation of his poetic world. He depicted the spaces of whirring winds, rain, and snow to embody his times as a period of chaos and used the images of animals and plants being bent and broken down to imply the aspects of weak classical scholars. Furthermore, he announced his intense will to confront the world with the dynamic image of a breakthrough and expressed his wish to reach a high spiritual level out of his agony in reality with the dynamic image of soaring. It is also noteworthy in his poems that he sought after a life attitude based on idleness. This attitude, which was also represented in his nickname, signified a free life from real desire and was another expression for his resistance against the world. The life that he tried to achieve through his orientation toward idleness was specified in his ideal life for Yail in his works. Yail means a life of simple and tranquil mood. These poems depict the freedom and joy of escaping from the bridle of reality. It is also noteworthy from a literary perspective that the poet created very fresh images through his dynamic imagination. It can be checked with a series of dynamic images such as breakthrough and soaring.
