국문 초록

  이 글에서는 함석헌의 예수 이해를 중심으로 그의 기독교 사상의 독특성을 밝혀보고자 했다. 함석헌의 예수 이해는 속죄론에 대한 서술에서 가장 분명하게 드러나며, 그가 본격적인 신학적 논쟁을 하고 있는 것도 이 주제다. 그의 예수 이해는 "예수는 어떤 인물이었는가?"라는 객관적 질문보다 "예수는 내 안에서 어떤 변화를 일으키는가?"라는 실존적 질문에 더 많이 집중되어 있고, 속죄론에 대한 논의에서 그의 그리스도론적 진술이 본격적으로 전개된다. 따라서 자연스럽게 이 글에서는 그의 속죄론과 관련하여 예수 이해의 특징들을 밝혀보고자 했다.   함석헌은 하나님을 우주 속에 흐르는 내적 관련성, 우주의 정신적 의미로 본다. 그는 이를 요한적 언어를 사용하여 영원한 생명이라고도 부른다. 하나님은 우주의 마음이다. 그리고 우주의 마음으로서 하나님은 내 속에 들어와서 자리잡고 나를 저 안 밑바닥에서부터 변화시키고 일으켜 세운다. 그러나 내 안에 들어온 우주의 마음과 내 마음이 하나가 되는 경지에까지 이르지 않고서는 스스로 일어설 수 없다. 함석헌의 사상에서 죄와 예수, 하나님에 대한 모든 논의들은 스스로 함, 주체성의 함양이라는 한 가지 목표에로 귀착된다. 그리고 이러한 스스로 함이 일어나는 자리는 내 마음이다. 내 마음이 이 우주와 역사의 마음, 곧 하나님의 숨과 일치했을 때 스스로 하는 위대한 인격이 탄생하며, 예수는 여기 이르는 것이 가능하며, 그 길이 어떤 것인지를 우리에게 보여준 인물이다.

영문 초록

  This study aims to clarify the distinctiveness of Ham, Sok-hun"s christian thoughts, an underlying force of his christian practice, by analysing his understanding of Jesus throughout his writings. Ham"s understanding of Jesus became most clearly revealed when he wrote on the Jesus"s expiation of sins and here is, more than anywhere else, where he was involved in severe theological debates. What led Ham"s way of understanding of Jesus was not the question of "Who was Jesus?", but that of "Who is Jesus for me, here and now?", which seemed existential rather than theoretical in its origin. Ham"s speculation on christology also begins to develop from his discussion on atonement. For these reasons, I shall clarify the distinctiveness of Ham"s understanding of Jesus in relation to his understanding of the atonement through this study.   According to Ham, God is the one who gives to the universe the inner appropriateness and meaning. What"s more, God herself can be said as the relevance, or the meaning that runs through the universe. God is the heart of the universe. God as the heart of universe comes to me and dwells inside of me. Unless the heart of universe and the heart of mine become one, hower,  I cannot stand up on my own. Ham"s christian thought, and all of his argument on sin, Jesus, and God converges into a single aim of enhancing the spontaneity of my heart. When the heart of mine coincides with the heart of universe and history, in other words, with the breath of God, the birth of great spontaneous personality can be given to this earth. Jesus is the one who showed us the fact that it is possible and the way how it is posible.
