국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 여성의 사회진출과 핵가족의 보편화로 인해 하교 후 자녀에 대한 돌봄과 교육이 사각지대에 놓일 우려가 있는 현대 사회의 교육적 대안 중 하나로 방과후 공동양육 프로그램의 역할과 교육적 시사점을 도출하기 위한 것이다. 연구결과 부모들이 공동양육 프로그램을 선택하는 동기는 접근성과 잘 돌보며 키우고 싶은 욕구 때문이었고, 공동양육 프로그램에 참여하면서 프로그램 운영진 및 다른 부모들과 잦은 소통기회를 가지고 점차 프로그램을 신뢰하며 적극적으로 참여하게 되었다. 공동양육 프로그램에 참여한 결과 다른 학부모들과 함께 도움을 주고받으며 성장하는 기쁨을 느꼈고, 또래 및 선후 배와 어울리며 성장하는 자녀의 모습을 바라보는 뿌듯함을 경험하였다. 이러한 경험은 잦은 학부모 모임과 다양한 소수의견이 간혹 받아들여지지 않는 불편한 경험을 극복하고 방과후 교육 프로그램에 계속 참여하는 동기가 되었다. 이 결과는 방과후 공동양육 프로그램이 성공적이고 지속적으로 운영되기 위한 가장 핵심적인 요소는 프로그램에 대한 학생 뿐 아니라 양육자의 신뢰를 얻기 위한 지속적인 소통이 일상 화되어야 하며, 학생과 부모, 그리고 교사간의 전인적 만남을 증진하는 방향으로 운영될 필요가 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of an After-School Co-Parenting Program as an educational alternative for children to attend after regular school ends each day. In today’s modern society, the care and the education of children after school are often placed in a blind spot for parents due to women s social advancement and the universalization of nuclear families. With no one home to care for children after school, the advantages of having children attend a co-parenting program are its accessibility and parents’ desire to care for their children. Results show that participation in the co-parenting program has resulted in active communication with program executives and parents, which increases trust and active participation in the program. Participation in the co-parenting program has helped the students to grow up with other student’s parents and become familiar with them, which also helps the parents to experience the joy of their own children growing up, but also that of the other children and to be proud of seeing other growing children in line with peers and seniors. These positive experiences have motivated frequent parent meetings and group think to overcome uncomfortable experiences between children and to participate in further after-school education programs. These results suggest that the most important factor for a successful and sustainable After-School Co-Parenting Program is continuous communication between all parties to gain trust of the students and also the care-givers, and that it is necessary to operate in a way that promotes personal encounters between students, parents and teachers.
