삼국시대 소형철기와 축소모형철기를 통해 본 교류

국문 초록

삼국시대 고분에서 출토되는 철제품 중 실제 도구로서의 기능에 의구심이 들 정도로 소형의 철기들이 있다. 특히 대가야의 중심지인 고령지역에서는 낫, 살포, 도끼, 도자 등 여러 형식(形式, form)이 세트를 이룬 극소형의 축소모형철기가 다수 출토되어 오래전부터 주목을 받아왔다. 주로 농공구를 모티브로 제작되는 경향이 있는데, 결론적으로 필자는 기존에 소형철기, 미니어쳐철제품, 소형철제농공구, 소형철제모형농 공구, 부형철기 등 형태에 따라 다양하게 명명되는 소형의 철기군은 대가야와 관련된“축소모형철기”와 실용구인 농공구류를 소형화해서 다소 조잡하게 제작한“소형철기”로 구분하고, 이 철기들은 지역에 따라 그 성격이 서로 다른 것으로 이해하였다. 지금까지 막연히 동일선상에서 교류와 교섭의 근거자료로 사용되던 소형의 철제품을 축소모형철기와 소형철기로 나누었다. 이 종의 유물들은 서로 다른 문화권에서 상호 연관 없이 각각의 지역에서 자체 등장하는데, 축소모형철기의 경우 대가야권을 중심으로 농경을 상징하는 매장의례용 의기로, 소형철기는 소작의 기로서 부장된 것임을 증명하였다. 또, 한반도 남부에서 출토되는 각 지역의 소형철기와 축소모형철기의 사례를 분석하고, 검증하였다. 나아가서는 이 철기들의 분포나 출토양상 등을 바탕대로 지역성을 추출하여 한반도 남부의 교류와 일본열도의 전개양상 등에 대해서도 분석을 시도하였다.

영문 초록

Among all the ironwares excavated from ancient tombs of the Three Kingdoms Period, there are small ironwares that are suspicious of their function as tools. In particular, in Goryeong area, which is the center of Dae-Gaya, a number of miniatures of tools were discovered such as sickles, sandpaper, axes, and knife, which have long been in the spotlight. These ironwares tend to be manufactured primarily mimicking agricultural tool, which is divided into Miniature Ironware associated with Dae-Gaya and Small-sized Iron Tool which were produced somewhat crudely by miniaturizing farming tools. These were understood to have different characteristics depending on the region where they were excavated. The small ironwares, which have been used as the proofs of exchange and negotiation on an irregular basis, are divided into Miniature Ironware and Small-sized Iron tool, and the relics of these kinds appeared in each region without any correlation between different cultures. In the case of Miniature Ironwares, they were burial ritual instruments symbolizing agriculture of the Dae-Gaya area. On the other hand, Small-sized Iron Tools were proven to had been produced for the custom of burial at the tomb. Moreover, each case of both Miniature Ironwares and Small-sized Iron Tools excavated from southern Korean peninsula were analyzed and proven. Furthermore, based on the distribution and excavation of these ironwares do the characteristics of each region form. These characteristics enable analysis on how exchange happened among southern Korean peninsula and Japan.
