공동육아에 대한 어머니들의 의식에 관한 고찰

국문 초록

본 연구는 공동으로 육아 활동을 하는 어머니들의 상호 부조의 정신을 분석하고자 한다. 이를 위해서 서울시에서 육아품앗이 활동을 하고 있는 어머니들을 대상으로 인터뷰 조사와 참여관찰을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 어머니들은 자신의 육아 불안이나 부담을 경감하기 위해 먼저 공동 육아를 택하였지만, 그 후에는 비슷한 입장의 어머니들끼리 그냥 모이는 것에서 벗어나 하나의 목표와 방향을 바라보는 ‘동지’가 되었다. 이는 비슷한 입장이니까 이해할 수 있는 부분을 서로 감안하면서 활동을 하고 있으며, ‘품앗이’라고 해도 공동육아 속에서의 노동력 교환의 다양성이 존재한다는 밝혀냈다. 구성원의 동질성이나 서로에 대한 이해를 전제로 하는 육아품앗이에 참여하게 되는 동기 부분은 자신의 부모가 이웃과 함께 어울려 자신을 길러줬던 기억, 그리고 어렸을 때 또래끼리 많이 놀면서 가졌던 추억 등이 큰 요인으로 되었다. 그것이 바로 지금 현재 한국사회에서 잃어버리던 사람과 사람의 인연을 활용한 육아 방법으로 기존의 교육과는 다른 새로운 길을 찾을 수 있는 하나의 가능성일 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This research is purposed to analyze consciousness of mutual assistance of mothers who are in parenting organization for communal childcare in Korea. For the analysis, this research conducted participatory observation and interview targeting Korean mothers, who are participating in communal child-rearing called ‘Childcare Pumasi’ in Seoul. As a result, the mothers show a tendency to choose cooperative childcare to reduce burden of cost and their own parental anxiety at first, but they need companions having similar position and also sharing common goals later rather merely gather together. Besides, it finds that they brush round in the organization with considering each other about some of things that might empathize. Also, there is diversity of exchange labor force in the cooperative childcare even in the ‘Childcare Pumasi’. The participation motive factor to childcare Pumasi which requires understanding and homogeneity to group members is basically originated from the good memory with their parents nurturing them with neighborhood and pleasant reminiscence with friends when they were young. Currently, people have kept losing relationship with others in Korean society. In this situation, this communal child-rearing method utilizing human relationship can be possible to show another way against the existing education.
