중학교 사회과 교과서에서의 노동교육 ‘사례’ 분석

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 2015개정 사회과 교육과정에 포함된 노동교육을 위한 ‘사례’가 교과서에 어떻게 기술하고 있는지 살펴보았다. 분석결과, 분석 대상 교과서 전체에서 활용한 ‘사례’의 수는 56건이었으며, 교과서별 사례 수는 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. 교과서에 활용된 사례 중 일반 사례는 39건(68.4%)이었으며, 청소년·학생 사례의 수는 17건(31.6%)으로 일반사례 수가 많았다. 노동교육 내용 영역별로는 노동권의 침해 ‘사례’가 가장 많았으며, 근로의 권리와 최저임금, 여성의 근로에서도 ‘사례’ 제시가 상대적으로 많았다. 이는 노동권의 침해와 권리구제가 교육과정의 핵심요소이기 때문에 이 부분을 적극적으로 반영하기 위해 노력한 결과로 볼 수 있다. 그러나 여성, 외국인, 장애인의 노동문제와 관련된 ‘사례’에 대해서는 상대적으로 소홀히 하고 있었다. 이러한 분석을 바탕으로 사회과에서 노동교육과 관련한 사례를 제시하거나 진술을 할 때 고려해야할 것들을 제언하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학생의 일상 경험과의 관련성이 높은 문제 및 주제를 사례로 선정할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 학습자의 발달 수준, 학습 준비도, 사회적 경험, 사회 기능 등을 고려하여 사례를 조직해야 한다. 셋째, 사례는 학생들이 이해하기 쉬운 용어로 진술되어야 한다. 마지막으로, 검정교과서 제도 하에서 필연적으로 발생할 수밖에 없는 교과서별 진술 내용 수준(오류 포함) 및 학습 요소의 반영 비율의 차이를 줄이기 위한 노력, 예컨대, 교과서 모니터링 시스템과 같은 제도 마련이 필요해 보인다.

영문 초록

The study investigated how textbooks apply the cases for labor education presented in 2015 revised social studies curriculum. The total number of the cases being applied was 56, showing little differentiation in terms of the frequency by textbook. The examples for students and young adults accounted for 17 cases(31.6%), which were below the level of general examples, 39 cases (68.4%). The textbooks assigned the most space to the violations of Labor rights, while also touching heavily on working rights, minimum wages, and women s labor. This reflects the efforts to embody the idea that the violations and the protection of Labor rights are the key components of the curriculum. The textbooks, however, pay relatively little attention to female, foreign, and disabled workers. The research, based on the analyses, suggests four considerations in presenting or stating the cases related to labor education in social studies: first of all, the textbooks should provide highly relevant issues or subjects to students’ daily experiences; secondly, they should organize the examples considering learners’ development level, learning readiness, social experiences, social functions, etc; thirdly, they should explain the examples in simple terms; lastly, the authorities should introduce institutional systems, such as textbook monitoring program, in an effort to minimize the differences in the levels of stated contents(including errors) and in the ratio of learning elements among textbooks, which follow as inevitable consequences of the textbook screening system.
