국문 초록

明淸代부터 본격적인 단속이 시작된 禁書小說은 대략 112종에 달한다. 명대에는 주로 사회풍속의 교화차원이나 혹은 정치색채를 띤 사상통제가 전부였으나 청대에 들어오면서 금서소설에 대한 통제는 크게 강화되어 대규모의 단속이 시작되었다. 대략 淸代 初中期에는 청나라의 통치사상과 연관된 時事小說 계통과 사회풍속을 저해하는 淫亂物 정도의 차원에서 금서소설을 단속하다가 청대후기(道光年間과 同治年間)에는 주로 淫詞小說 위주로 집중 적인 단속이 이루어졌다. 명청대의 금서소설(총 112종) 가운데 文言小說은 단지 21종에 불과하고 白話通俗小說이 91종으로 대부분을 차지한다. 그리고 금서소설 가운데는 청대소설이 대부분이지만 적지 않은 명대소설도 소급되어 금서로 지정되기도 하였다. 또 이러한 금서소설의 등장으로 인하여 다량의 異名小說들이 출현하게 되었는데 이러한 배경에는 出版業者들의 商業性과 매우 밀접한 관계가 있었다. 중국의 금서소설 가운데 대략 66종의 소설들이 朝鮮에 流入되었는데, 이 책들은 중국의 금서정책과 무관하게 비교적 자유로이 유입된 것으로 보인다. 그러나 정조에 이르러서는 文 體反正과 禁輸令 같은 조선의 정책에 따라 집중적인 단속을 받기도 하였다. 그럼에도 불구 하고 금서소설들은 지속적으로 유입되어 조선시대에 出版된 중국소설이 약 5종이고 飜譯된 소설은 약 20여 종이나 되며, 그 외 戲曲과 彈詞 등도 약 10여 종이나 유입되어 우리의 古小 說 발전에 적지 않은 영향을 끼쳤다.

영문 초록

About 112 types of novels were banned since Ming & Qing Dynasties when intensive crackdowns began. On the Ming Dynasty, a crackdown on novels was conducted on a small scale, only to civilize social custom or to censorship political overtone. However, by Qing Dynasty, control over the banned novels has been greatly strengthened, and a large-scale crackdown has begun. In the early and mid period of Qing Dynasty, there was a crackdown on current-affair novels related to governing ideology and pornographic novels that can disrupt public morals, at the latter part of Qing Dynasty Dao-Gwang and Tong-Zhi period a crackdown was mainly concentrated on the pornographic novels. Among 112 types of banned novels, only 21 are Wen-yan novels(文言小說), and 91 are Bai-wha popular novels(白話通俗小說). Most of the banned novels are from Qing Dynasty, but not a few Ming Dynasty novels were designated as banned novels retrospectively. The emergence of banned novels led to the emergence of a sobriquet novels, which was closely linked to the commerciality of publishers. About 66 of China’s banned novels were introduced into Joseon Dynasty, and relatively freely brought in regardless of China’s policy of banned novels. However, at the time of King Jeongjo’s reign(정조시대), control over the banned novel got strengthened according to Joseon’s policies such as Wen-ti-fan-zheng(文體反正) and import prohibition(禁輸令). Nevertheless, banned china novels were continuously brought in and there are about five Chinese novels published, about 20 were translated novels, and about 10 plays were introduced, during the Joseon Dynasty, affecting the development of Korea classic novels.
