경찰에 대한 청소년의 신뢰에 영향을 미치는 요인

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 도구적 모델, 표현적 모델, 규범적 모델의 관점에서 경찰에 대한 청소년의 신뢰에의 영향 요인들을 분석한 후 경찰 신뢰를 향상시키기 위한 이론적ㆍ정책적 함의를 제안하는 것이다. 이 연구를 위한 데이터를 수집하기 위하여 대구광역시 소재 고등학교 재학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였다. 고등학생들을 대상으로 한 조사 연구를 통해서, 현재의 경찰 신뢰 수준뿐만 아니라 향후 경찰 신뢰 수준에 대해서도 어느 정도 예측할 수 있다. 기존의 선행연구는 주로 도구적 모델 및 표현적 모델과 경찰 신뢰 간의 관계를 조사 했지만, 이 연구는 규범적 모델까지 포함하여 경찰 신뢰에의 영향관계를 분석 했다는 점에서 중요한 가치를 지니고 있다. 경찰 신뢰를 종속변수로 하고, 범죄피해 두려움, 지역 무질서, 경찰 효과성, 사회적 유대감, 비공식적 사회통제, 절차적 공정성, 통제변수인 성별(더미)와 학년을 독립변수로 설정하여 중다회귀분석을 한 결과, 절차적 공정성(β=.383, p<.001), 비공식적 사회통제(β =.210, p<.001), 경찰 효과성(β=.204, p<.001)이 경찰 신뢰에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 경찰에 대한 청소년의 신뢰를 향상시키기 위해서, 경찰은 절차적 공정성 인식을 향상시키고, 비공식적 사회통제를 강화하고, 경찰 효과성을 증진시킬 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This study aims to suggest the theoretical and policy implications after analyzing the factors influencing adolescents’ trust in police in terms of instrumental model, expressive model, and normative models. To collect data for this study, we surveyed students of high schools in Daegu Metropolitan City(N=283). The independent variables of this study are police effectiveness, fear of crime, social cohesion, informal social control, community disorder, and procedural fairness. And, the control variables are gender and school year, and the dependent variable is adolescents’ trust in police. Through survey research on high school students, it will be possible to predict not only the present level of police trust but also the future level of police trust. The previous studies mainly examined the only relationship between instrumental models and expressive models and police trust, but this study has the very important value as it treated the factors influencing police trust including normative model. The results of the multiple regression analysis indicate that procedural fairness(β =.383, p<.001), informal social control(β =.210, p <.001), and police effectiveness (β=.204, p<.001). Therefore, police managers need to enhance procedural fairness, increase police effectiveness, and strengthen informal social control in order to improve adolescents’ trust in police.
