친구와의 차별적 접촉이 청소년범죄에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

이 연구는 청소년기 중 급격한 환경적 변화를 맞이하는 고등학교 3학년 시기와 대학교 1학년 시기에 청소년들의 비행 및 범죄경향에 어떤 변화가 나타나는지를 사회학습이론과 자기통제이론에서 추출된 변인들을 중심으로 살펴보는데 그 주된 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 이 연구는 한국아동ㆍ청소년패널 중1자료의 6차 년도와 7차 년도 자료를 비교분석하였다. 회귀분석결과, 사회학습이론의 친구와의 차별적 접촉변수는 고3학년 패널과 대1학년 패널에 동일하게 청소년 범죄를 통계적으로 가장 잘 설명하고 있었으며, 자기통제변수 중에서는 인내심 결핍, 위험추구경향변수가 청소년범죄를 잘 설명하고 있었다. 이 연구는 청소년범죄에 영향을 미치는 요인이 청소년들의 신분변화에 따라 상이하게 나타날 것이라는 가정 하에 출발했다. 즉, 청소년들이 그들의 인생여정에서 대학진학이라는 큰 전환점을 목전에 둔 고등학교 3학년 때와 그 전환점을 통과한 대학교 1학년 때에 범죄에 영향을 미치는 요인이 다소 상이하지 않을까 하는 의구심에서 출발했다. 하지만 연구결과 청소년범죄에 영향을 미치는 요인은 고등학생 신분일 때나 대학생 신분일 때 동일하다는 것을 발견했다. 특히 고등학교 때 비행친구와의 긴밀한 사귐을 가진 청소년은 대학생이 되었을 때도 여전히 비행친구들과 함께 각종 청소년범죄를 저지를 가능성이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the changes in juvenile delinquency tendency in the third grade of high school and freshmen of college, focusing on the variables derived from social learning theory and self-control theory. The data derived from a sample of 2,056 high school students and 1,881 freshmen of college taken from National Youth Policy Institute in 2015 and 2016. Multiple OLS regression analysis indicated that differential peer association variables have the greatest impact on juvenile delinquency than the variables derived from self-control theory. The results of regression analyses also explore the notion that without self-control variables, there is very little loss of explained variance when these variables are removed from the full equation. However, when the social learning factors are eliminated from the full equation, the change in R2 is dramatic. This result supported the idea that social learning variables had the strongest effect on the juvenile delinquency of Korean adolescents. This study is significant in that it examines how the factors affecting juvenile delinquency change over two years in the same sample. This study can be considered as having a special academic significance in examining what factors have the strongest influence on juvenile delinquency and how their influence changes in the third grade and the first grade of college.
