영문 초록

Cryptosporidium parvum (C. parvum) caused severe diarrhea in neonatal calves and immunocompromised human. The efficacy of currently proposed chemotherapeutic agents, however, is limited or doubtful in controlling. The present study was preformed to estimate neutralization activity and immunotherapeutic effect of immune sera and monoclonal antibody (MAb) C6 against C. parvum (VRI-CN91) isolated from a Korean mouse. The experimentally infected mice with sprozoites pre-incubated in immune rabbit serum, immune mice serum, and MAb C6 did not discharged the oocysts in feces, but cryptosporidial developing stage were detected in pathological findings. The mice treated with immunotherapeutic agents showed significantly reduced parasite loads compared to control mice. These results suggest that oral passive immunotherapy with neutralizing immune serum and MAb C6 may be a useful treatment approach.
