국문 초록

본 연구는 청소년기 자녀를 양육하는 저소득 가족을 위해 개발된 부모역할프로그램의 효과성을검증하기 위한 목적으로 실시되었다. 이를 위해 충청, 전라, 경상, 강원 및 수도권의 전국 10개 복지기관에서 부모역할 프로그램을 실시하고 프로그램 참여자인 저소득 청소년기 자녀 어머니 123명과통제집단 92명을 대상으로 한 유사실험설계연구를 실시하였으며, 프로그램 참여자 19명을 대상으로 포커스집단 인터뷰를 실시하여 프로그램 참여 이후 변화경험이 무엇인지에 관한 질적연구를 실시하였다. 연구결과 프로그램 실시 전과 종료 후 비교 시 프로그램 참여자 집단에서 부모역할 자신감과 만족감 등 부모역할자긍심과 부모자녀의사소통, 가족관계에 유의미한 향상이 있었으며, 자녀양육스트레스의 유의미한 감소가 검증되었다. 수입, 학력, 사전점수를 통제한 공분산분석결과에서는부모역할 자신감과 만족감을 포함한 부모역할자긍심과 부모자녀의사소통에서 프로그램참여의 주효과가 유의미하게 산출되어 본 프로그램의 효과성이 검증되었다. 프로그램 참여 이후 변화에 관한포커스집단 인터뷰 내용분석 결과에서는 부모로서 자신에 대한 인식 증가, 자녀를 바라보는 시각의긍정적 전환, 자녀와의 의사소통과 관계의 친밀감 증진, 긍정적 정서 증진, 그리고 자신의 변화로인한 자녀와 가족의 긍정적 변화 등이 주요 변화로 분석되었다. 이와 같은 연구결과에 근거하여 지역사회를 기반으로 청소년기 자녀를 양육하는 저소득 가정의 어머니들을 지원하기 위한 부모역할프로그램 활성화에 대한 정책적 및 실천적 방안을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study examined the effectiveness of a parenting program, specifically designed for low-income parents of adolescents by use of the quasi-experiment and the focus group interview research method. Ten social service agencies throughout the nation participated in this study with 123 mothers for the experimental group and 92 mothers for the control group. As the results of the effectiveness test, compared to the control group, parents who received the parenting program reported significant improvements in parent satisfaction, parent confidence, parent-child communication, and family relation with significant decrease of parenting stress at post-intervention. In addition, the results of the contents analysis on the focus group interview with 19 program participants showed increases of self-insight as a parent, positive changes in the perspective of their adolescent children, improvements of parent-child communication and relationship, increases in positive emotions, and positive changes in their adolescent children and family atmospheres as main changes after participating in the parenting program. These findings indicates that this parenting program for low-income mothers of adolescents may be a useful tool for improving parent’s positive functioning in the basis of community-based approach.
