국문 초록

이 연구는 기혼여성의 인적자원개발 논의에서 유리천장으로 대변되는 ‘권력’과 ‘노동’의 문제는자주 언급되는 반면, 여성의 ‘카텍식스’ 문제가 도외시되어왔다는 문제의식에서 출발한다. 카텍식스란 ‘(남편과 같은) 특정한 대상과 관련해 정서적으로 채워진 사회적 관계의 구성’을 의미한다(Connell, 1987). 이 연구의 목적은 성(性)과 권력이론(Connell, 1987)을 바탕으로, 기혼여성의권력과 노동, 카텍식스 간의 관계를 실증적으로 검증하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 2016년도 여성가족패널조사를 활용해, 아내의 권력(자본주의 사회에서 아내의 소득으로 대변되는 경제력), 노동(남편의가사노동시간), 카텍식스(아내의 부부관계만족)가 아내의 부정적 정서(우울, 스트레스)에 미치는 영향을 구조방정식 모형으로 검증하였다. 분석 결과, 아내의 소득과 부부관계만족, 남편의 가사노동시간은 모두 아내의 부정적 정서에 영향을 미쳤다. 한편 아내의 부정적 정서에 가장 큰 영향을 준요소는 아내의 소득과 남편의 가사노동시간보다는, 아내의 부부관계만족이었다. 이러한 결과는 기혼여성의 인적자원개발 논의에서 직업능력 개발과 같은 기계적이고 양적인 접근방식에 일정한 한계가 있음을 보여준다. 오히려 본 연구는 기혼여성의 정서문제와 부부관계만족과 같은 카텍식스 구조를 유리천장으로 대변되는 노동 및 권력 구조와 함께 다루는 보다 통합적이고 질적인 차원의 여성인력개발 전략이 훨씬 더 효율적일 수 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

In the discussion of the HRD(Human Resources Development) for married women, the structure of cathexis has been neglected comparing to those of power and labour, which is often represented by ‘glass ceiling’. Cathexis is defined as the construction of emotionally charged social relations with objects in the real world(Connell, 1987). Drawing on Connell(1987)’s theory of gender and power, this study aims to verify the relationship among married women’s power, labour and cathexis with empirical data, that is, 2016 Korean longitudinal survey of women and families. Structural equation modelling was conducted regarding the effect of wive’s income(economic ‘power’), satisfaction with marital relationship (cathexis), and husbands’ housework(labour) on the wives’ negative emotion (stress, depression). Our analysis suggests that all the three factors(power, labour, cathexis) influenced on the wives’ negative emotion. However, the most significant impact factor on the wives’ negative emotion was the wives’ satisfaction with martial relationship, rather than their income or their husbands’ housework. These results reveal that current HRD policy gearing at enhancing married women’s job skills to raise their employment rate is an approach that is too technical, quantitative and constrained. Rather, a more holistic and qualitative approach is required, which pays more attention to the combination of married women’s emotional well-being and their marital relationship (cathexis) with their power and labour issues in their gender regimes of the family and the workplace.
