성희롱 경험이 여성의 근로환경만족과 경력전망에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 직장에서의 성희롱 경험이 여성의 근로환경만족과 경력전망에 미치는 영향을분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 2014년도 제4차 근로환경조사에 응답한 20세 이상 55세 이하인 여성임금근로자를 대상으로 순서형 로짓모델과 다항로짓모델을 사용하여 분석하였다. 전체 분석대상자11,244명 중에서 성희롱을 경험한 여성은 전체의 2.0%인 228명이었으며, 성희롱을 중첩적으로경험한 여성은 전체의 0.5%인 54명이었다. 분석결과 성희롱을 경험한 여성은 성희롱을 경험하지않은 여성에 비해 근로환경만족도가 낮았으며, 성희롱을 중첩하여 경험할수록 근로환경만족도가 낮아지는 것을 볼 수 있다. 성희롱을 경험한 여성은 그렇지 않은 여성에 비해, 그리고 성희롱을 중첩하여 경험한 여성일수록 현재 하고 있는 일을 60세까지 지속하고 싶지 않다고 응답할 가능성이 높았다. 즉, 성희롱을 경험한 여성일수록 적극적으로 자신의 경력을 전환할 의지가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 직장에서의 성희롱 경험은 여성의 직장생활에 대한 태도와 인식에 부정적인 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact that sexual harassment in the workplace has on workplace satisfaction and career prospect for women. The 4th Korea Working Conditions Survey done in 2014 was utilized to investigate paid women employees age 20 to 55. Of the 11,244 under analysis, 228 or 2.0%　experienced sexual harrassment. Women who experienced sexual harassment more than once numbered 54 (0.5% of total). Analysis of the relationship between experience of sexual harassment and workplace satisfaction and career prospect revealed the following. Women who experienced sexual harassment had lower levels of workplace satisfaction compared to those who had not been harassed. As the number of harassment experiences went up, workplace satisfaction levels got lower. Additionally, those who were harassed showed a higher probability of responding that they did not want to continue in their current job until 60 and thus had higher intentions for wanting to switch jobs. In conclusion, the analysis revealed that experience of sexual harassment in the workplace has a negative influence on women’s attitude and view towards their work.
