기악 심방곡(心方曲)의 궁중교류 발생설에 관한 추론(推論)

국문 초록

속칭 심방곡이라고 하는 것은 하나의 곡명이나 형식 내지는 무의식의 음악 장르만을 가리키는 것이 아니라, 무의식과 연향 등에서 두루 활동했던 현수가 연주했던 음악을 말한다. 현수가 연주했던 곡들 중 성악곡 만중대엽은 점차 기악곡화 되어 기악 심방곡으로 탄생되었으며, 이 기악 심방곡은 김창조의 변작 이후 산조로 변신하게 되었다. 이 기악 심방곡의 전파에는 양덕수의 공이 컸다. 현수의 기악 심방곡 발생 이후 관악기를 연주하던 재인들도 국가 행사 등에 함께 참여하면서 교류하였으며, 이때 현악 심방곡에 대가 될만한 관악기 봉장취라고 불리는 곡도 더불어 파생되었을 것이다. 봉장취는 봉황곡으로도 불리는데 이처럼 민속악으로서는 어울리지 않는 이름은 궁정악으로 연주시에 얻어졌기 때문일 것이다. 봉장취가 형성되었을 초기에는 현악기 심방곡과 구분하여 관악기로 기악 심방곡을 봉장취로 불렀을 것이나 양자의 음악적 특성이 유사했던 까닭에 점차 이와 같은 구분은 희미해지게 되었다.

영문 초록

Simbanggok is presumed to be the origin of sanjo, however the birth and background of instrumental simbanggok has not yet been determined. The aim of this study is to infer when and how instrumental simbanggok was born. First, simbanggok is not a single tune nor form, but the name given by a hyeonsu (絃首), a woman who follows a shaman and plays a zither. Hyeonsu played a role not only in shaman ritual but also in civil and royal court banquets, singing songs and playing stringed instrumental music. Among simbanggok, the “pieces” (lit. “great leaves”) Man-daeyeop, Jung-daeyeop,and Sak-daeyeop gradually linked with and turned into instrumental music and became the original form of sanjo. It was after that that Kim Changjo transformed it. In the process of forming and spreading instrumental simbanggok, Yang Deoksu played a big role by transcribing simbanggok in his music book and publishing the book in large quantities. Also the music of jaein (才人; lit. a person of talent, often indicating a kind of clown or entertainer) called bongjangchwi (鳳長醉, lit. drunken phoenix), had been derived from simbanggok during the royal year end ceremony, Narye. In its early stage, bongjangchwi was played with wind instruments, distinguishing it from simbanggok, which was played with string instruments. However, the differentiation gradually became vague because the two musics had shared similarities from their birth.
