비극적 상황에 대한 대응방식과 민족의식 발현양상

국문 초록

한수산의 􋺷군함도􋺸는 일제말기 하시마섬의 징용과 나가사끼에 떨어진 원폭 사건을 중심으로 우리 민족의 비극적 상황과 그 대응방식을 보여준 소설이다. 전쟁의 주범인 일제는 식민지 조선인들을 억압과 착취의 대상으로 전락시킨 것은 물론 국민교육을 통해 자국민에게 내셔널리즘을 내면화하여 조선인들을 차별토록 하였다. 군함도 내 열악한 상황에서의 고된 노동과 나가사끼에 떨어진 원폭이라는 비극적 상황 하에서도 조선 징용공들은 과거 삶의 체험이 녹아든 언어표현으로 자신은 물론이고 주변인에게까지 위안을 삼았다. 또한 그들은 낭만적 과거회상을 통해 고난을 견디면서 미래를 개시하고자 한다. 마지막으로 원폭으로 인해 피폭 될 수 있는 위험한 상황에도 불구하고 구조대를 구성하여 가해자인 일본인들을 적극적으로 돕는 휴머니즘을 발휘한다. 이러한 대응방식은 우리 민족이 지닌 민족성과 관련이 있다. 또한 일본인들의 내셔널리즘이 국가에 의한 것으로 타민족에 대한 억압과 차별을 정당화는 기제라면 조선의 민족의식은 일제의 탄압에 의해 자생적으로 발현된 것이다. 타 민족의 억압이나 멸시가 없을 경우에는 그것은 인간이 지녀야할 최소한의 가치인 휴머니즘으로 환원된다고 할 것이다. 따라서 민족의식에 대해 상호 적대적 관계를 형성하면서 적대적 공범관계라는 포스트모더니즘의 해석은 가해자와 피해자, 그리고 그 민족의식의 형성과정을 왜곡한 것이다.

영문 초록

Hansu-san’s 􋺷The Warship Island􋺸 is a novel that shows the tragic situation and its countermeasures of our people centering on the use of Hashima Islandand the atomic bombing in Nagasaki in the end of Japanese Imperialism. The Japanese imperialism, which is the main culprit of the war, not only transformed the colonized Koreans into objects of oppression and exploitation, but also internalized nationalism for their own people through national education and discriminated Koreans. The slaves were subjected to hard labor in poor conditions. They were also in a tragic situation of atomic bombing in Nagasaki. However, they play a role of comfort by laughing not only to themselves but also to the surrounding people, using the expression of language sublimated into the experience of life. In addition, their romantic past recollections endure hardship and give them the will to start the future. Finally, in spite of the dangerous situation that could be caused by the atomic bombs, they formed a rescue team and showed humanism actively helping the Japanese. This response is related to the national consciousness of our people. Japanese nationalism was created by the state and justified oppression and discrimination against other people. But our people consciousness is manifested by the Japanese repression. If there is no oppression or contempt of other nations, it will be reduced to humanism, which is the minimum ethic that humans should possess. Therefore, the interpretation of postmodernism as hostile coexistence by forming mutual hostile relationship with national consciousness distorted the process of formation of perpetrator, victim and consciousness of national.
