북한 역사학계의 고대사 인식과 민족론

국문 초록

북한 역사학계의 고대사 체계는 리지린의 고조선연구 이래 삼국시대 이전을 ‘고대’로 규정하고 있다. 그 이후 고조선의 중심지와 영역 문제를 보완하는 연구가 중심이었는데, 1993년 단군릉 발굴 이후에는 고조선의 상한과 고대 국가(부여·구려·진국)들의 編年 체계를 조정하는 연구가 이루어졌다. 이와 함께 단군 신화와 고대 종족론에 대해서도 많은 연구가 집중되었다. 그러나 문제는 이 과정에서 규원사화 · 단기고사 · 단군세기와 같은 僞書에 근거한 고조선 王系의 복원 등을 시도한다는 점이다. 나아가 북한의 민족 개념은 국내외의 정치사회적인 관계 속에서 변화하는데, 고대의 종족 인식 또한 이에 따라 변화하였다. 그 결과 인류학적 개념으로는 ‘조선옛류형사람’의 창출과, 역사학에서는 ‘박달족’을 발명한다. 이렇듯 최근까지 북한의 역사학은 세계체제에서 고립된 상황 아래 정치적 기획에 종속된채 체제의 정당성을 옹호하기 위한 수단으로 활용된 측면이 강하다. 그러나 현재 남북과 북미 정상회담이 연속적으로 개최되고, 향후 남북한의 교류와 북한의 개방이 활성화 되어간다면 북한의 역사학이 어떠한 방향을 설정할 것인가 주목하지 않을 수 없다. 지금까지의 북한 고대사 인식체계는 남한의 유사역사학계의 입장이나 주장과도 비슷한 측면이 있기 때문에 이러한 지점들을 유념하면서 남북한 역사인식의 상호 교류를 준비해야만 한다.

영문 초록

The ancient history system of the history circles in North Korea had defined the period before the Three Kingdoms as ancient since the publication of Lee Ji-rin s A Study on Gojoseon . Since then, the focus had been on researches to supplement the issues around Gojoseon s central place and territory. After the excavation of Dangun Tomb in 1993, researches were conducted to adjust the chronological system of Sanghan in Gojoseon and ancient states(Buyeo, Guryeo, and Jinguk). Many researches were concentrated on the Dangun myth and the theories of ancient tribes. The problem is that an attempt emerged in the process to the royal line of Gojoseon based on such pseudographs Gyuwonsahwa, Dangigosa and Dangunsegi . Furthermore, the concept of ethnic group changed according to political and social relations home and abroad in North Korea, and it was the same with the perception of ancient tribes. As a result, they invented a new anthropological concept called Old Joseon-type people and a new historic studies term called Bakdaljok. In North Korea, historical studies has been characterized by the strong tendency of being used as a means of advocating the legitimacy of the regime until recent years, being subjected to the political plans in its isolation from the world systems. With the continuous summits between North and South Korea and between North Korea and the U.S.A. and the activation of exchanges between North and South Korea and the opening of North Korea, however, there is a definite need to focus on which direction will be taken by historical studies in North Korea. Since North Korea s perception system of ancient history has had some similar aspects to the positions or arguments of the pseudo-history circles in South Korea, it is required to keep these points in mind in preparation of mutual exchanges in historical awareness between North and South Korea.
