교과서 사료의 빈도 분석을 통한 한국사 핵심 사료의 제시 가능성 탐색

국문 초록

기본적이고 핵심적인 지식과 기능을 강조하는 방향에서 사료 학습을 발전시키려면 핵심 사료를 선정하고 그에 따라 교육과정󰠏교수학습󰠏평가의 연속선상에서 체계적으로 접근할 필요가 있다. 역사교육의 다양성을 훼손하지 않는 전제에서 좀 더 탐구 학습을 돕는 사료를 탐색하는 방안으로 핵심 사료의 선정을 고려하였다. 이를 위해 우리나라 교육과정을 검토한 결과 교수학습 항목에서 활용을 강조하는 정도였고 어떤 사료를 어떻게 활용할 것인지에 대한 구체화가 부족하였다. 이에 비해서 미국의 사례를 보면 목록의 제시는 물론 사료의 수준까지 고려하는 시사점을 얻을 수 있었다. 한편 검정 역사 교과서는 다양한 사료를 선정하여 본문이나 탐구 활동에 배치하였으나 내용 이해를 보완하는 기능이 대부분이었다. 2009 개정 교육과 정에 따른 2011년판 고등학교 한국사 교과서 6종과 2011 개정 교육과정에 따른 2014년판 고등학교 한국사 교과서 8종을 탐색한 결과 각각 과반인 4종 이상과 5종 이상 수록된 사료 110건(모두 과반 50건, 2011년판만 과반 19건, 2014년판만 과반 41건)을 추출하였다. 검정 교과서가 다양성을 추구하는 가운데 이와 같이 공통 사료가 다수 나타난 점에서 향후 핵심 사료 선정의 가능성은 높다고 볼 수 있다. 이제 깊이 있고 의미 있는 사료 학습을 하기 위해서는 교육과정, 교과서, 교수학습, 평가 등에서 핵심 사료를 어떻게 제시하고 활용할 것인가에 대한 궁리가 필요하며, 그러한 방향에서 본고가 수행한 기초 작업이 기여하기를 바란다.

영문 초록

Although the classroom use of historical sources was emphasized in teaching and learning history, historical sources have not been prominent in the National Curriculum. With the advent of the textbook adoption system, there now are many different Korean history textbooks based on the National Curriculum; however, the use of historical sources in textbooks have been limited to content verification. In the reform context that emphasizes essential knowledge and skills, there rose the need to identify essential historical sources and to systemize the relationships among curriculum, instruction, and assessment. This study analyzed historical sources included in the National Curriculum and 14 Korean history textbooks with a purpose to identify essential historical sources. The analysis of the National Curriculum revealed that the selection and presentation of historical sources needs to be refined and systemized.Finding also highlighted the common historical sources across textbooks through the textbook analysis. There were 110 common historical sources which were included in more than half of 6 2011 textbooks and 8 2014 textbooks (50 sources listed in more than half of both 2011 and 2014 textbooks, 19 in 2011 textbooks, and 41 in 2014 textbooks). The findings suggest that the possibility to agree on essential sources is high. We discuss how the focus on essential sources can expand and enrich history instruction.
