어린이 승마체험 프로그램이 초등학교 학업성취도에 미치는 효과에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 현재 초등학교 교육현장에서 실제 시행되고 있는 체험활동 프로그램으로서 승마체험이 초등학교 학업성취도 전반에 미칠 수 있는 효과에 대해 분석하고 있다. 분석을 위해 국내에서 현재 유일하게 가용할 수 있는 것으로 확인되는 ‘경기도 공공초등학교 승마 체험 프로그램 지원사업의 학교 단위 그룹자료’를 활용하였고, 그룹 자료에 대한 회귀추정 과정에서 발생하는 이분산 문제를 해소하기 위해 Berkson(1953)의 최소카이자승방법을 적용하여 가장 효율적인 추정결과를 논의하였다. 현실적으로 잘 관찰되지 않는 교육․경제적 환경변수를 통제하기 위해 승마체험 프로그램에 참여했던 공공초등학교와 비슷한 교육환경과 개인배경을 공유하리라 간주되는 인근 초등학교들로 구성된 표본을 구축하였는데, 인근 성(neighboring) 여부는 국내 최하위 지역 구분 단위인 읍․면․동의 법정동에 동일하게 소재 하는지 여부에 따라 구분하였다. 승마체험 학습의 학업성취도에 대한 영향은 유의적인 양 (+)의 효과를 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 표본 구성의 임의성을 단계적으로 완화하여 확대 구축한 조건부 표본과 비조건부 전수 표본의 강건성 분석결과에서도 승마체험은 학업성취 도에 대해 유의적인 향상효과를 일관적으로 보여주는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study first presents a positive causality between the school achievement performance and the shool-level chirdren’s animal-utilizing experience education such as a horse-riding experience curriculum other than extracurricular private educations which Korean parents and children depend heavily on. Our regressions include Beopjeongdong-regional variables to control unobservable background properties properly among nearby schools, since Beopjeongdong of the Eup․Meyon․Dong system is the most minimum standard of regional classification in Korea. The estimation results by using the quasi-experiment sample are verified by both a conditioned sample and an unconditioned sample that are organized by extending the spatial randomness of sample composition by stages. Berkson(1953)’s minimun chi-square method is applied to solve the heteroscedasticity problem which occurs in the regression process by using school-unit grouped data, and to discuss the most efficient estimators. The results of the analysis show that the horse-riding experience variable has a significant impact on the school achievement performance in our samples. Children’s horse-riding experience is also kind of an exercise and sport of utilizing about 500kg companion horses that can develop better physical fitness and healthier spirits fundamentally, and so children’s experience programs such as a horse-riding curriculum can be a realistic alternative of children’s creativity education. We argue that this article implies the educational background and appropriateness of the extended application on children s experience activities in the 9th elementary school curriculum reform process in 2014.
