국문 초록

우리가 어떤 대상을 본다는 것은 단지 눈에 보이는 가시적인 것만은 아니다. 하나의 시각적 판단이기도 하지만, 그 속에는 심리적인 부분이 상당수 차지하고 있다. 본 논문은 자신을 한걸음 떨어진 타자의 시선으로 바라봄으로서 자신을 객체화시키는 방법으로 자신의 존재근거를 발견하여 자신의 모습을 주체가 아닌 객체로 인식하고 타자의 시선을 통하여 그 속에 내재된 다양한 의미를 해석하고자 한다. 이를 위해 동.서양의 나름의 범주를 정하여 실존주의 철학의 핵심인 사르트르(Sartre J. P)의 “타자의 시선”에 초점을 두었다. 일관성 있게 사실주의 화풍으로 대상의 본질과 이치를 파악하여 논리와 객관적 사실성을 도출한 윤두서와 외형적인 재현이 아니라 정신적인 태도와 심미정서를 담아내려했던 루시안 프로이드(Lucian Freud)의 작품을 연결시키는 고리를 “시선”이라는 전제하에 그들의 삶이 작품 속 인물화에서 어떻게 표현되었는지 알아보는 것이 연구의 목적이다. 아울러 동.서양의 미를 추구하는 의미는 무엇을 향방하고 있는지를 고찰하는 것에 의의가 있다. 동․서양의 두 작가의 작품 속에서 나타난 의미와 해석을 통해 양자 간의 대화의 장으로 시도해 보는 것 또한 의미 있는 일일 것이다.

영문 초록

When we view a certain object, it does not just mean something visual. Such a single visual judgment includes many psychological parts. This paper aims to interpret diverse meanings through others gaze by discovering the grounds for the existence of oneself and cognizing own look not as a subject but as an object, as a method to objectify oneself by viewing oneself in a distant others gaze. For this, deciding the category of the East and West, it focused on the “other s gaze” by Sartre J. P as the core of existentialism. The objective of this study is to understand how portrait paintings have expressed the lives of two artists such as Yoon, Du-Seo who drew logics and objective reality by understanding the essence and reason of objects based on the consistent-realistic style, and Lucian Freud who aimed to contain the psychological attitude and aesthetic emotion instead of physical reproduction, under the premise of “gaze” which is the link between their works. Moreover, the significance of this study is to consider the direction of meanings of pursuing the beauty of the East and West. It would be significant to attempt a place for dialogue between them through the interpretation of meanings shown in works by those two artists in the East and West.
