국내 뮤지컬 배우들의 사회연결망 분석

국문 초록

국내 뮤지컬은 2000년대 이후 질적, 양적 성장을 이루면서 국내 공연 문화 산업의 큰 축을 이루고 있다. 현재도 수입 라이선스 뮤지컬과 더불어 다양한 창작 뮤지컬이 매년 계속 제작되는 등, 지속적인 성장을 이어가고 있다. 이러한 중요성에도 불구하고 뮤지컬 분야에 대한 연구는 이제까지 그 주제 및 연구 방법 측면에서 제한적으로 이루어져왔고, 특히 사회연결망 분석 기법을 적용한 연구는 찾아보기 힘들다. 본 연구에서는 국내 뮤지컬을 대상으로 배우들이 구성하는 사회연결망을 분석함으로써, 그 특성, 주요한 배우들, 그리고 사회연결망의 지표가 배우들의 향후 활동에 끼치는 영향을 분석하고자 하였다. 2004년부터 9년간의 주요 뮤지컬에 출연한 221명의 배우들을 대상으로 한 분석 결과, 이정열, 민영기, 김법래 등 사회연결망에서 주요한 역할을 하는 배우들을 파악할 수 있었으며, 사회연결망의 지표들이 배우들의 활동을 단기 혹은 장기적으로 예측하는데 유용함을 밝혀내었다. 본 연구는 국내 뮤지컬에 대해 처음으로 사회연결망 분석 기법을 적용했다는 점에서, 그리고 종단적 분석을 통해 사회연결망 지표의 영향을 규명했다는 점에서 그 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Korean musicals have accomplished both qualitative and quantitative growth since 2000, constituting a major part of domestic performing arts industry. It has been continuing its growth until now with not just licensed musicals, but also a variety of original ones being produced each year. Despite its importance, studies on musicals have been limited both in its scope and research methods so far. Especially, it is hard to find any study in Korea applying the social network analysis method to musicals. In this study, by analyzing the structure of the social network of Korean musical actors, we aimed to identify the key characteristics and major actors of the network, and also to investigate the influence of its indices on the level of activities of the actors in the future. A total of 221 actors who appeared in the major musicals in the nine-year period from 2004 were targeted for the analysis. From the results, it was observed that the actors such as Jung Yeol Lee, Min Young Ki, and Pub Lae Kim are located at the most important positions in the network. It was also found that the degree and centrality measures of the network are useful for predicting the short-term and long-term activities of the actors. The contribution of this study lies in that it has applied the social network analysis to the musical actors in Korea for the first time, and also that it has identified the influence of the social network indices through a longitudinal analysis.
