애국계몽기 민족도교와 고소설: 신자료 <몽견제석(夢見帝釋)>의 소개를 더하여

국문 초록

본 논문은 하버드 옌칭도서관 소재 <몽견제 석(夢見帝釋)>의 소개와 더불어, 애국계몽기 몽견류 소설의 하나로 자리할 이 작품이 지니는 문학사적 의미에 대한 고찰을 목표로 한다. <몽 견제석>은 53장의 한문필사본으로, 본문에 앞서 ‘일신(一神)’이 다스리는 나라의 ‘관직도(官職 圖)’가 나온다. 관직도 상의 직책은 한반도 소재 59개의 산들이 맡고 있다. 작품은 단군신화를 몽유적으로 재구성하면서, 그 안에서 민족종교와 민간도교를 서사적으로 결합하고 있다. 민족종교 중에는 특히 대종교(大倧敎)와의 관련성이 두드러지는데, 대종교 경전에서 확인되는 특정 고자(古字)와 표현을 사용하고 핵심 경전의 전체내용을 서사의 일부로 수용했다. 여기에 민간 도교적 상상력, 특히 채약(採藥) 화소와 산신신앙 및 도교적 공간에 대한 관심을 부각했다. 이 중 눈에 띄는 것은 천상백옥경(天上白玉京)에 대한 기문(記文)을 12지(支)에 따른 공간배치도의 형식으로 구성하고 있는 점이다. 이러한 민족종교적 사상과 민간도교의 상상 력이 소설 안에서 서사적으로 결합함으로써, 소설은 새로운 사유 즉 민족도교적 시대고민과 대응방식에 대한 담론을 형성하는 장이 된다. 애국 계몽기는 시대적 특수성으로 인해 각계 지식인 들이 자신들의 철학적 관점에 기대 시대를 진단 하고 고민했다. <몽견제석>과 같은 몽견류 소설인 <몽견제갈량>과 <몽배금태조>를 비롯, 이들과 마찬가지로 몽유서사를 차용한 <금수회 의록>, <지구성미래몽>, <꿈하늘> 등이 유불 도와 기독교 그리고 신흥민족종교의 입장에서 시대에 대한 문제의식과 대안을 모색한 작품들 이다. <몽견제석>은 특수한 시대적 문학사적 맥락에서 우리민족의 가장 오래고 주체적 사유인 도교의 입장에서 당대에 대한 인식을 담아낸 담론서사라는 점, 그리고 소설이 시대의 전환기 에 새로운 사유를 형성하고 개진하는 담론의 장으로 기능하고 있다는 점을 확인하게 해주는 작품으로서 적지 않은 의미가 있다.

영문 초록

This study is aimed at not only introducing kept by HarvardYenching Library but also the contemplation of the meaning of literature history in this book which will be regarded as Monggyun-style novel of the period of patriotic enlightenment. is a 53-chapter manuscript written by Chinese character, before the body of this book, there is a picture of public offices(官職圖) in the country ruled by the one and only God(一神), which describes that the God gives the 59 mountains appointments. As this book reconstitutes the myth of Dan-gun(檀君) like a dream, it combines an ethnic religion with Taoism among people narratively. Especially, among the religions of a people, it is very relevant with Daejonggyo (大倧 敎, indigenous South Korean religion worshipping Dan-gun), it uses specific archaic characters in Daejonggyo Script, and a certain Script accommodates the whole story as a part of its description. Here, folk-Taoist imagination, especially, interest in gathering story elements of medical herbs, a mountain spirit religion and space is being emphasized. Among these, the most distinguishable thing is that it constitutes a memorandum about Cheonsangbaekokkyung(天上白玉京) as a space arrangement chart style. As they put this ethnic religion ideology and folk-Taoist imagination together, the novel becomes the place where a new thought, that is, the discussion of national-Taoist agony about era and the method of reaction are taken place. In the period of patriotic enlightenment, by a period distinctiveness, intelligentsia from all walks of life were agonizing and diagnosing about era by their own philosophical views. Like a , as a Monggyun-style novel, including , , there are borrowed from dreamlike narration, , and that deal with a critical mind and alternatives about era in the position of a newly ethnic religion. is a book of discussion which describes the realization of that time in the context of the times, literature history, and the longest-independent thought, Taoism. Also it represents much as a book which provides a place for developing a new ideology.
