국문 초록

기초적 인성교육이 이루어지고 있지 않는 현대사회의 교육적 현실과 사회적 환경 속에서 종교교육의 필요성은 더욱 절실해지고 있다. 불교의 인격교육의 이상은 사물을 있는 그대로 보는 지혜를 일깨우는 교육, 세계와 자기가 하나라는 자각에서 발현되는 자비의 실천교육, 어디에도 집착하지 않는 자유로운 마음의 계발교육, 스스로의 힘으로 주체적 자기완성을 추구하는 교육을 실현하려는데 있다. ‘불교적 교육’은 이러한 의미에서 불교이념의 구체적 실천을 위해 절대적으로 필요한 것이며 불교교육이 나아가야 할 이정표이기도 하다. 진각종의 정체성은 ‘心印을 밝혀서 敎民化俗’하는 불교이다. 불교교육의 목표가 상구보리·하화중생 이라면 심인교육의 목표는 인격완성·교민화속이 되고, 진각밀교의 입장에서 보면 진각의 실현인 즉신성불·현세정화를 의미한다. 심인교육은 생활 속에서의 수행실천 측면에서 참회의 생활화와 함께 삼밀수행으로 심인을 밝혀나가고, 육 바라밀의 실행 즉 육행실천을 통한 현세정화를 강조하고 있다. 그리고 진각종의 교화의 정체성이자 심인교육의 방향으로 ‘불교의 생활화, 생활의 불교화’를 강조하고 있다. 그러나 훌륭한 실천적 이론들을 대사회적으로 실현해 나갈 수 있는 대중적 심인교육 프로그램의 연구개발이 없이는 종교 기관으로서의 사회적 공감대를 형성할 수없고 대중적 불교 종단으로 자리매김 할 수도 없다. 이는 앞으로 심인교육이 풀어 나가야 할 과제이기도 하다. 불교인성프로그램은 일반 대중들의 생활에 효율적으로 도움을 주는 차원에서 학습 능력을 향상시키고 일상적 스트레스 관리, 감정 조절에 도움이 되는 프로그 램으로 개발돼야 하고, 심인교육을 진각종의 틀에 묶어두지 말고 또한 불교를 종교라는 틀에 가두지 말고 보편적 관점에서 접근할 필요가 있다. 심인교육의 場은 바로 천차만별로 染汚되고 병들어 있는 인간의 마음병을 고치는 정신정화의 전당이 되어야하고, 참회와 실천으로써 인격완성을 이루고 현실을 구제하는 무량공덕의 因을 짓는 교화의 場이어야 한다.

영문 초록

In the reality of education and the environment of modern society which lacks the fundamental humanity education, the need for religious education is more essential than ever. The idea of personality education in Buddhism is to substantialize the education in order to awaken the wisdom having the people see the thing as it really is; practice the compassion manifested by the self-awareness of oneness between self and others; develop the free mind that does not attach to any object; and pursue the independent self-completion on one’s own. The ‘Buddhistic education’ is absolutely necessary for specific practice of Buddhist ideas, yet also the signpost to which Buddhist education steps forwards. The identity of Jingak Order of Korean Buddhism is ‘converting the secular through teaching the people by means of the enlightenment of Simin[Mind-seal].’ The goal of Buddhist education is ‘seeking bodhi above, and transforming sentient beings below.’ Likewise, the goal of Simin education is to ‘complete one s character and enlighten the people.’ and it signifies ‘attaining enlightenment with this very body and purifying this world from the standpoint of Jingak Esoteric Buddhism. Simin education enlightens the Simin by Three-secret Practice with the living of penitence in terms of daily practice, and underlines the purification of this life through the practice of Six Paramitas(charity, precept, forbearance, endeavor, meditation, and wisdom). The direction of Simin education is namely ‘Daily Life to Buddhism, Buddhism to Daily Life.’ Without the research and development of public Simin programs that can realize these great practical theories in a social context, however, Jingak Order cannot form a social consensus as a religious institution, nor can it establish itself as a popular Buddhist sect. The Buddhist personality programs should be developed to the programs that improve learning ability, manage daily stress, and help emotion control in order to give efficient hands to the public daily life. Therefore we need not to bind Simin education to the framework of the Jingak Order. It is also necessary to approach Buddhism from a universal perspective rather than confine it to the frame of religion As a result, the field of Simin education should be the place of spirit purification which cures human s mental disease variously defiled. Besides, it should be the place of edification which is sowing the seed of immeasurable merits through saving the people and completing one s character with practice and repentance.
