국문 초록

전쟁은 역사교육에서 비중 있게 다루는 주제 중 하나이다. 그러나 역사교육에서 전쟁은 평화라는 교육의 기본적 가치보다는 승패를 기준으로 평가되어 왔다. 이 때문에 평화교육과 전쟁사학습은 서로 모순관계를 보여 왔다. 이런 모순관계를 완화하기 위한 전쟁사 학습 방향을 고찰하는 것이 이 글의 목적이다. 역사교육에서 전쟁은 국가 대 국가의 문제였다. 그러나 ‘국가’라는 이름으로 하나로 묶어서 평가하기에는, 전쟁의 경험은 구성원에 따라 많은 차이가 있다. 평화는 모든 형태의 폭력이 없는 상태를 의미한다. 전쟁은 역사 변화에 급격하고 광범한 영향을 미치며, 사회구성원에게 다양한 폭력을 행사한다. 전쟁을 국가 차원의 승리와 패배로 이원화할 것이 아니라, 사회구성원 개개인이나 다양한 집단들의 전쟁 경험에 주목해야 한다. 그리고 민중이 전쟁에 대처하는 능동적 선택을 다루어야 한다. 전쟁의 전개과정과 직접적 영향뿐 아니라, 전쟁의 여러 측면들에 관심을 가져야 한다. 전쟁의 성격, 전쟁의 폭력성, 민중의 주체적 선택, 전쟁 과정의 인과관계, 전쟁의 기억을 가르쳐야 한다. 이 글에서는 전쟁의 이런 측면들에 접근하는 방향을 예시와 함께 제시하였다. 이 글에서 제시한 전쟁사 학습의 방향을 구체적인 사례에 적용하려는 실천적 노력을 통해, 역사교육에서 전쟁사를 평화교육의 관점에서 접근할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The war is an important theme in history education. The meaning of war has been evaluated not on the peace but on the result of war, victory or defeat. As the result of such history education, peace education and war history learning has been the inconsistent relation till now. This study suggested some strategies for solving the problem of war history learning in Korea history education. War has been learned as the conflict between two or more nations. But people experience various aspects of the war, which is too different to regard them together under the name of ‘nation’. Peace is defined as the state without all types of violent. The war influence a sudden and extensive change of the society, and resort to violence against ordinary people. We should not regard the war as victory or defeat of nation, but take notice of different war experiences of individual people or social groups and their active choices. Students should learn varied results as well as direct influences of the war. The character of the war, the violent of the war, people’s active choice, the causation of the process of war and the memory of the war are main problems for learning the war in the view of peace. This study suggested teaching directions of aspects of the war with examples of historical facts in the Korean history. These suggestions are expected to concrete wars in the history for building students’ consciousness of peace.
