영문 초록

After Korean War, a rapid economic growth has led to establishment of a city with weak resistance to crime without safety against it. This frequent happening of crime in urban space has threatened the nation and to obtain safety, making of living environment which has resistance to crime by applying this factor from planning and designing of a city or construction has to be implemented. As one of solutions to handle crime threat in living environment, other countries started to *adopt Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) approval system. In Korea, there is a CPTED approval system approved by Korea CPTED Association. In March 2010, a corporation called Korea CPTED Association with competent administrative agent of Ministry of The Interior was established. CPTED approval system for apartments has been continuously executed from its first design approval in September 2010. The purpose of this research is to analyze main factors of CPTED and effectiveness of CPTED by examining satisfaction on crime safety through a survey done with residents in apartment complex with CPTED approved by Korea CPTED Association and without the approval. Moreover, by studying their physical status with on-site examination of both approved and non-approved apartment complex it tries to find actual condition of maintenance. It also aims to suggest improvement as well as maintenance methods required in the future.
