국문 초록

본 연구는 지역사회에 거주하는 중년층의 치매에 대한 지식 및 태도를 파악하고, 그들의 일반적 배경과 치매 경험 및 배경 특성들이 치매 지식과 태도에 어떤 차이가 있는지를 검증하는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위해 선행연구를 토대로 연구모형을 수립하 였다. 연구 대상은 전라북도 지역에 거주하는 40-59세의 지역주민을 편의표집방법으로 선정하였다. 자료수집은 구조화된 설문지를 이용하여 2014년 7월에서 8월 사이에 이루어졌다. 본 연구에서는 완성된 258부의 설문자료를 분석에 사용하였다. 수집된자료는 SPSS 18.0 프로그램을 사용하여 빈도분석, t-test, ANOVA 분석을 실행하였다. 차이분석 결과, 치매 지식은 학력과 소득수준에 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 치매태도는 연령, 소득수준, 가족치매공개, 국가도움 인지, 노인복지 치매정책 인지, 치매관련 정보경로에 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 중년층의 치매 지식과 태도에 관한 실천적 함의를 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine knowledge of and attitudes toward dementia among middle-aged people. Based on the existing literature on this topic, we specified a research model and tested it. Middle-aged people residing in Jeonbuk area participated in this study. A structured self-administered questionnaire was used. In order to examine the research model, a two-phased data analysis process was used. First, univariate analyses were performed to describe the sample characteristics and to identify the level of knowledge of and attitudes toward dementia. Second, bivariate analyses, using T-test and ANOVA, were performed to examine relationships between outcome variables and background variables. The analysis results showed that education and monthly income were significantly related to knowledge of dementia and that age, monthly income, willingness to open to the public about family members with dementia, awareness about national aid about dementia, awareness about policies of governments for the elderly with dementia, and the dissemination of information about dementia were significantly related to attitudes toward dementia. Based on the study findings, implications for practice to improve knowledge of and attitudes toward dementia among middle-aged people were discussed.
