『廣藝舟雙楫』書法用語 의미의 典據와 實際 考察

국문 초록

본고는 康有爲(1858∼1927)가 書法에 관하여 논리적으로 서술한『광예주쌍즙廣藝舟雙楫』 5권 제22, ｢學敍｣에서 필법용어의 실제적 의미를 전거에 견주어 논한 것 이다.『광예주쌍즙』은 엄정하고 체계적인 미학이론을 수록하고 있다. 서예의 발전관을 기초로 하여 漢·魏·六朝시기의 碑學을 추종하는 것으로 최고의 미학 원칙을 삼고, 서예미학의 발전과 역사 및 그와 유관한 문제에 대해서 계통을 세웠으며, 세밀한 분석과 연구를 통하여 독특한 풍격을 담아냈다. 이러한 배경에는 서예 기법의 이론이 무엇보다 중요한 역할을 하였는데, 이는 시대에 따라 선현들이 제시한 서예 이론의 내용을 같이 하면서도 표현에 있어서는 용어 사용을 달리하기도 하여 후학들에게 혼란을 야기하기도 하였다. 강유위의『광예주쌍즙』 5권 제22, ｢學敍｣에서 필법 용어의 의미를 분석․고찰한 것 은 현재 書團이나 사회 각층에서 書藝를 함에 있어서 이론과 실기를 겸하지 않고 모본의 형상만을 추구하거나 형태적 기이함만을 추구하는 것에 대하여 경각심을 일깨우기 위함이다. 또한 서예의 본질을 추구하여 서예가 일상을 넘어 창조적 미래로 나아가는 기틀을 정비하는 書藝學 연구에 따른 일련의 과정이다. 오늘날 초·중·고 학교에서 서예교육의 필요성이 대두되는 가운데 이론과 실기를 겸한 선조의 서예작품을 이해하고 학습하기 위해서는 무엇보다 감상과 실기에 심혈을 이울려야 한다. 이는 시대적 문화 창조의 원동력이 되기 때문이다. 하지만 최근 여러 대학원에서 서예학 전공이 개설되어 이론화를 강조한 논문이 발표되고 있으나 여전히 서예 이론에 있어서는 미비한 상태이다. 이에 따른 이론의 체계화는 물론 역대 서예술에 관한 중요한 문화유산을 死藏시키는 과오를 범하고 있다. 그러므로 본고에서 청대 이후 서예 이론에 대하여 계통을 분석하고 연구함에 있어, 당대는 물론 오늘에 이르기까지 지대한 밑거름이 되고 있는『광예주쌍즙』의 필법 용어를 분석․고찰함으로써 서예의 질적 향상과 서예 이론 연구에 보탬이 되고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study examined practical meanings of chirography terms in 「Hakseo」, chapter 22 on book 5 of 『Gwangyejussangjeup』by Kang Youwei (1858∼1927), which described on calligraphy logically, compared with references. 『Gwangyejussangjeup』contains impartial and systematic aesthetic theories. It regarded following epigraphic calligraphy from Han, Wei and Six dynasties as the best aesthetic principle based on the development of calligraphy. In addition, it systemized the development and history of calligraphy and other relating issues, and exhibited unique styles via detailed analysis and researches. Theories on calligraphy techniques played the most important role of all as a background of the book. However, it also caused confusion for the following students as it followed the contents of calligraphy theories by ancient sages but used different terms from them in expression. This study analyzed and examined the meanings of chirography terms in 「Hakseo」, book 5, chapter 22 of 『Gwangyejussangjeup』by Kang Youwei. It aimed to arouse attention to the current phenomenon in calligraphic circle and all social strata that only imitates the shape of examples or follows oddities in forms without combining theory with actual skills in calligraphy. Further, it is a series of process in calligraphy study that establishes the foundation of calligraphy by pursuing the essence of calligraphy so that calligraphy can go beyond everyday life to a creative future. In recent years, several graduate schools have established a major in calligraphy and published papers with emphasis on theorization. Still, studies on calligraphy theory are inadequate. Consequently, there are mistakes made, not only hindering systemization of theory but also burying vital cultural heritages on the past calligraphic art. Therefore, this study aims to help enhance the quality of calligraphic community and examine calligraphy theory by analyzing and understanding calligraphy terms in 『Gwangyejussangjeup』, which serves as a great foundation until now as well as at the time when it was published in analyzing and studying calligraphy system since the Qing dynasty.
