泰村 高尙顔의 현실인식과 그 문학적 대응

국문 초록

泰村 高尙顔은 상주 지역에 생활의 거점을 마련하고 활동한 지식인이다. 본 논의는 이를 인식하면서 고상안이 당대의 현실을 어떻게 인식하고, 그인식한 바에 따라 어떻게 문학적으로 대응하였던가 하는 부분을 밝힌 것이 다. 이를 위하여 당대의 시대적 상황과 이에 따른 문학적 반응을 따지는 ‘상 황-반응’의 논리에 따라 그의 현실인식 문제를 살펴보았다. 그 결과 고상안은 임진왜란이라는 구체적이고도 험난한 경험을 통해 의병장과 지방관의 직책을 수행하면서 중농사상에 기반을 둔 현실주의를 함의한 작품을 다량 생성하였던 것이다. 고상안의 문학은 서정의 형상, 향촌의 발견, 경세적 담론이라는 당대적 보편성을 지니고 있지만, 그 이면에서 발견되는 특수성은 중농사상에 기반을 둔 현실주의이다. 이 특수성이 그의 문학에서 구심적 요소로 존재한다고볼 때, 고상안의 문학은 원심력이 작동하면서 세 방향의 주제를 형성하고 구심력이 작동하면서 하나로 통일되어 있다는 것을 알 수 있다. 이처럼 그의 문학은 두 힘의 관계성 속에서 체계화되어 있다고 하겠는데, 이는 그의 문학이 일상생활 위에서 형성된 事上學的 傾向을 지니기 때문에 가능한 것이라 하겠다. 이러한 사상학은 그의 관료적 경험과 임진왜란이라는 당대적 상황, 향촌 상주의 지역성 등이 맞물리는 지점에 정초하고 있다고 해야 할것이다.

영문 초록

Taechon Goh Sang-an was an intellectual that built his living base in Sangju and was active in the area. Recognizing the basic fact, this study set out to investigate how he perceived the reality of his times and what kind of literary reactions he made according to his perceptions. For that purpose, the study looked into his reality perceptions and issues according to the situation-response logic, which addresses the period situations of times and resulting literary responses. The results show that he created a good number of works that were based on physiocracy and had implications for realism, going through the specific difficult experiences of Imjinwaeran as a general of the Righteous Armies and local government official. His literature had the universal nature of his times including the embodiment of lyricism, discovery of the country, and governing discourse, but the unique quality of his literature was realism based on physiocracy. Given that the uniqueness served as a centripetal element of his literature, it appears that the centrifugal force set the topics of his literature in three directions and that the centripetal force unified them into one. His literature became systemized in the relations between the two forces, which was possible because his literature had a Sasanghak(事上學) tendency based on daily life. His Sasanghak was established at the intersection of his experiences as a government official, the situations of his times due to Imjinwaeran, and locality of Sangju country.
