『동국역대총목』의 사학사적 고찰

국문 초록

17세기 중엽부터 18세기 전반기는 양란 이후의 후유증을 극복하고 국가를 재조해야 하는 과제에 직면하고 있었다. 이와 더불어 지배층의 정치적 및 사상적 대립, 성리학에 맞서는 다양한 사상이 출현하였으며, 유･불･도 3교를 절충시키려는 회통사상이 나타나기도 하였다. 도교와 문학, 역사에 관심이 많았던 홍만종은 회통사상적 경향을 견지하였을 뿐만 아니라, 당대 유행했던 사상의 다양성을 자신의 저술에 고스란히 녹여 냈다. 저술 중에는 도교 경향을 보이고 있는 것이 많은데, 단군을 우리 역사의 비조로 하는 단군정통론이 강조되고 있는 것과 직결된다. 본고에서 살핀 [동국역대총목]과 [증보역대총목]에도 그대로 반영되어있다. 상고사의 시작을 단군부터 시작하는 단군정통론을 강조하는 등 중국과 대등한 역사의식을 견지하였다. 그의 역사의식이 주목되는 이유이다. 무엇보다 20년 이상 재야에 머물던 홍만종이 저술한 사서에서 볼 수 있는 독특한 사상과 역사의식은 조선후기 지식인의 그것을 이해할 수 있다는 점에서 사학사적인 의미가 크다.

영문 초록

From the middle of the seventeenth century to the first half of the eighteenth century, they were faced with the task of overcoming the aftermath of The Two War and overhauling the state. In addition, a variety of ideas against the political and ideological confrontation and the neo - Confucianism of the ruling class emerged, and the Confucian ideology to compromise Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism appeared. Hongmanjong, who was interested in Taoism, literature and history, not only maintained his ideological tendencies but also dissolve the diversity of his contemporary ideas in his writings. It is also reflected in the [Dongkukyukdaechongmok(동국역대총목)] and [Jeungboyukdaechongmok(증보역대총목)] which are discussed in this paper. He emphasized the theory of Dangun legitimacy, which started from the Dangun, and maintained the historical consciousness equal to China. Above all, the unique ideas and historical consciousness that can be seen in the librarian writings of Hongmanjong who lived in not in a government position for more than 20 years are meaningful in terms of historical historians in that mthey can understand it by late Choseon intellectuals.
