국문 초록

이 글에서는 한국 신석기시대 취락에서 보이는 성격별 유구들의 분포양상에 주목하여 공간배치구조를 검토한 뒤 시기별, 지역별로 취락의 변모과정을 파악해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 그 구조를 어느 정도 파악할 수 있는 16개소의 취락유적을 대상으로 입지와 성격별 유구의 공간배치관계 및 주변유적과의 연계성을 중심으로 검토하였다. 분석대상의 지역범위는 남한으로 한정하고 권역은 동해안, 서해안, 남부내륙, 중부내륙지역으로 나누었다. 분석결과, 신석기시대 취락은 일반적으로 주거공간과 생산공간이 분리된 배치구조임을 알 수 있었다. 그 중에서도 화재의 위험이 높은 토기생산공간의 분리배치가 두드러지며, 시기와 지역의 차이에도 불구하고 대부분의 유적에서 공통적으로 적용된 것으로 나타났다. 또한 시기별 취락의 전개양상은 전기에는 소규모 취락과 대규모 취락들이 병존한 것으로 보이며, 이미 정주취락의 단계에 이르렀던 것으로 판단된다. 중기에는 해안지역에서 내륙지역으로 신석기문화의 확산과 함께 대규모 취락의 형태가 보편적으로 채용되고 있다. 그러나 지역적으로는 취락의 공간구성과 개별주거지의 규모나 형태에 있어 다소 차이를 보이며, 소규모 취락이나 독립가옥의 형태가 나타나기도 한다. 후기에는 과도기적인 대규모 취락이 일부 존재하지만 점차적으로 취락규모가 축소되는 것으로 파악된다.

영문 초록

This paper is intended to investigate changing process of settlements in the Neolithic period of Korea according to periods and regions after examining spatial arrangement structure in relation to the remarkable characteristic of remain structure focusing on the shape of distribution al that period. I selected 16 remains of settlement in order to certify the structure between the spatial arrangement structure and the position and characteristic structure of the remains. The general area of this study will be restricted to the east and west coast, southern and central part in South Korea. Research data analyzed that residence and producing spaces were constructed separately in settlements in the Neolithic period in general. The separated arrangements of producing spaces for earthenware that has significant risk of conflagrations were noticeable although the differences of the period and region showed on the common remains. Moreover, it is estimated that small scale settlement places existed with those of large scales in the former period through the process of settlements. With spreading the culture of the Neolithic period from coast region to inland region, the shape of large scale settlement were accepted generally in the middle period. There are, however, dissimilarities in scales and formations of spatial structures and individual residential structures of settlement according to regions. and a few small scale residences and dependant residential structures existed. Even though there were some large settlements during the transition period, the scale of settlements seemed to be reduced gradually in the latter period.
