국문 초록

한국화에서 여백의 의미는 무한한 우주의 자연을 조형적으로 실현하려 했던 조형 언어이다. 전통 미술의 여백 사상이 갖는 의미를 조명해 보면 여백 사상이 갖고 있는 확대와 포함 그리고 다양성과 통합 그러면서 개별성과 전체적인 모든 것을 한꺼번에 수용되는 우주적 개념이다. 무와 유, 허와 실 사상이고 기와 이의 사상이다. 이것은 미술 교육이 목표하는 개별성과 다양성이며 이 속에서 존재하는 남과 다른 자신의 표현과 관련된다. 이런 전통 한국화에서 실현하고 표현하려 했던 여백의 의미를 추출하여 미술 교육과 관련시켜 지도함으로써 여백 사상을 자라나는 아동들에게 바르게 이해시키고 지도할 수 있는 자료를 제공하며, 또 다른 전통 사상에 기초한 교육 방법을 개발하고 재구성하는 근거를 만들 수 있게 한다. 여백의 이해는 교육활동에서 표현과 감상의 활동과 관련시켜 이해하도록 지도되어야 하고 그 여백의 지도는 자신의 내면세계에서 무한히 전개될 수 있는 다양한 생각과 새로운 창의력을 발견시키는 활동으로 연결하게 하는데 주안점을 두어야 한다.

영문 초록

The meaning of a blank space in the Korean painting is a formative language which has been trying to bring the nature of the universe to fruition formatively. Illuminating it in the tradition art, it is an idea of the universe which is able to accept magnification and comprehension, diversity and unity, and individuality and the whole all together. It is an conception of all and nothing, emptiness and fullness, and spirit and material. This is individuality and variety that the art education is trying to achieve, and it is connected with one s expression, different from others , existing inside of it. Teaching children the meaning of the blank space that the Korean tradition art tried to actualize and represent not only furnishes the materials which are able to teach and have the growing children understand the right meaning of the blank space but also causes the new way of education based on the other tradition ideologies to develop and reorganize. The understanding of the blank space should be taught by relating it to activities of expression and appreciation, and its education should concentrate on activities to find various thoughts and a new initiative spirit which are able to infinitely develop in the world of one s inside.
