영문 초록

This study empirically investigated the mediating effect of sleep quality in the relationship between sleep duration and job-related affective well-being(hereafter, JAW), and the moderating effects of gender among these relationships with a sample of 299 employees in the Chinese banking industry. The results of this study showed that sleep duration and sleep quality have positive relationships with JAW. Moreover, sleep quality has a mediating effect in the relationship between sleep duration and JAW. Gender has a moderating effect in the relationship between sleep quality and JAW, although it has no moderating effects in the relationship between sleep duration and sleep quality, nor in the relationship between sleep duration and JAW. Interestingly, the direct effect between sleep duration and JAW for women is not different from the direct effect for men. However, the mediating effect of sleep quality in the relationship between sleep duration and JAW for women is bigger than the mediating effect for men. This study shows the positive effects of sleep duration and quality, rather than the negative effect of sleep deprivation. Sleep quality has an separate effect on JAW after controlling the effect of sleep duration on JAW because the analysis results are partial mediations.
