영문 초록

As environment-friendly planning is becoming main stream in regional planning area, there is urgent need to regional planning system to support sustainable development. For this goal, GIS has widely been utilized thanks to rapid development of simulation technique based on digital geographic information. The purpose of this study is to review the applicability of GIS simulation for regional development as the analysis and decision making tool in the case of road construction in island area in Jeollanamdo Province. As results of study, it is proved that GIS simulation of a development plan is visually persuasive to regional people, cost and time saving, and effective decision support system in decision making process of regional development
