영문 초록

The primary purpose of this paper is to suggest policy measures which are considered to contribute to the success of technology cities, and then to provide strategies for linking construction of technology cities with regional growth. The policy framework in so doing is derived from the restructuring of world capitalism, which has been triggered from the 1980s. The basis of regional policy, constituting part of a social regulation system, has increasingly transformed from Keysian statism to neo-conservatism, as the productive system has changed to the flexible one. Chongju Technology City should be established in congruence with the operating structure of the flexible production system. To make its production system flexible, policies should be implemented to promote innovation and informationization within the city. The establishment of Chongju Technology City can lead to the regional growth of the Chungbuk region when innovation-oriented policy is implemented at the provincial level.
