영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to review, and analyze village studies in terms of methodology, and to suggest research framework for the conceptualization of village. In order to produce knowledge about research object or subject, we will have to ask methodological questions such as ontological (What it is), ephistemological (how to know and how to analyze), axiological (what for), and ethical (who and what to do) questions. In this paper, to establish research methodology is to infer the presume, which is a starting point to research, with reference to methodological questions. The existing researches about village can be categorized into four approaches in terms of how to identify the entity of village itself. First is referred to classification study. Second means structuring study. Third is called as regionalization study. Fourth is considered as territorialization study. In general, the previous researches have not fully suggested the research methodology involed four questions. The suggested research methodology in this paper is as follows : In the ontological perspectives, the entity of village is composed of four concepts such as settlement, community, administrative unit, and hometown. And village is refered to a system. The method for the conceptualization of village is the ideal type method which Marx Weber developed. In ephistemological perspectives, as a system village can be identified by two approaches, such as, the formation of village boundary, and the locational process of village components.
