영문 초록

This study aims to suggest basic directions for developing high-tech industries in Taejeon, where the EXPO `93 is planned to be held next August. Such directions are drawn from an assessment of three distinct types of high-tech agglomeration complexes －R＋D oriented, production oriented, and self-sufficient complexes. Self-sufficient high-tech agglomeration complex is proposed as one of the most desirable types for the development of high-tech industries in Taejeon. This complex would strengthen local economy and perpetuate the side-effects of the EXPO `93. To actualize there expectations, however, central and local governments should prepare a variety of subsidies for developing high-tech industries through intensification of organization and functions related to industrial and economic administration.
