영문 초록

As all public policies involve spending decisions, government expenditure is the most visible and readily available measure of policy output. Indeed, decisions on the allocation of financial resources for major crime and corruption control programs affect the governments responsiveness to the society's need for public safety and justice. However, the controversy over government expenditure research arises from the use of inappropriate methodological specifications. The key methodological issues are the proxy measures of policy output, the high level of aggregation of expenditures, and the lack of time consideration. A discussion of these methodological issues can improve research on government expenditures to curb crime and corruption.
