淸臺 權相一이 남긴 울산관련 시의 양상

국문 초록

본고는 1735년 4월부터 1738년 12월까지 3년 8개월간 울산부사를 지낸 淸臺 權相一이 재임 기간 동안 지은 한시의 양상을 분석하여 울산지역에 대해 어떻게 생각하였는지를 고찰한 것이다. 이 기간 동안 그가 읊은 시 50여 수 중에는 반구대·곡연·태화강의 수려함과 아름다움을 묘사하거나 지역의 校生과 선비들에게 면학을 장려하는 뜻을 담고 있는 작품이 다수를 차지하고 있다. 이를 논증하기 위해 관련 시를 분석하면서 그가 57년간 쓴 일기인 『淸臺日記』를 인용하기도 했다. Ⅱ장은 다소 내용상 평이하달 수 있겠지만 포은 정몽주를 내세워 그의 절개를 권상일 자신의 勸戒로 삼기도 하고, 다른 한편으로는 포은의 崇文을 통해 지역 선비들을 일깨우려는 숨은 의도도 있었다. 그래서 Ⅱ장과 Ⅲ장에서 시적 화자의 인식이 분리되지 않는데, 이러한 사실은 그가 울산의 수령으로 오기 전에 도산서원장을 지냈을 만큼 퇴계 학통의 계승자이기도 하고 자신 또한 문과급제자라는 자세를 견지하였기 때문이다. 게다가 18세기는 영남 남인이 정치적으로 불리한 현실이어서 경상좌도에 속하는 울산지역의 校生과 선비들이 많이 성장해야 한다는 생각도 깔려있었다고 보아진다. 권상일이 이임한 이후에 울산지역에서는 진사합격자도 여럿 나오고, 과거에는 실패하였지만 학문적으로나 문학적으로 뛰어난 학자는 물론 처음으로 문과급제자가 배출되는 등 지역에서 학문적 수준이 크게 진작되는 현상은 결코 그의 興學의지를 무시할 수 없다. 본고에서 권상일이 지은 한시를 매개로 그의 인식문제를 분석하였기 때문에 일견 한계성을 지닌 것으로 비칠 수 있다. 그러나 한편으로는 이를 통해 당대 울산지역의 정치와 사회, 생활사 등을 조명하고 울산의 미래를 예견하는데 일정 부분 기여를 할 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

This paper is from April 1735 to December 1738 about the Ulsan-Busa for three years and eight months, region by analyzing how Chinese poetry built during the term Kwon Sang-il review of the cognition. Unlike other a governor, a poem written by 50 to the number of these problem of perception is clearly evident.
